If the deficit was non-existent (or even half of what it was) before the Biden administration, I would agree with you to some extent. But it wasn’t. So this is just dishonest.

Bob, could you go into your archives and show us the ‘toons from 2001 when you were so opposed to invading Iraq because we didn’t have the money for it?

How about all those ‘toons you drew criticizing Cheney’s sock puppet for bailing out the banks? Could you show us those?

Odd that traditional kicking-the-can-down-the-road suddenly is considered “past due” and “payment due immediately”… Gorrell must have noticed that there is a Democrat in the White House now…

    Envelope looks like:

With payment due immediately stamp from:

Don’t worry Gorrell, our children aren’t going to have to pay our debts. They will be dead from the catastrophic effects of the climate change that you and your generation failed to do anything about.

Right wing cartoonists love to worry about the ‘national debt’ we are passing on to future generations, but avoid saying anything about the carbon debt they are passing down to them, that they will pay for with their lives.

    This is the GOP cycle:

    1. Pass massive tax cuts for the wealthy, claiming they will pay for themselves and trickle down to everyone else, which they don’t and instead adds to the national debt.

    2. When democrats retake power, suddenly care about the size of the national debt, and claim that we need to cut social programs, that help working people, to pay down the national debt.

    3. When democrats propose raising taxes on the wealthy and fixing tax loopholes that allow giant corporations to avoid paying taxes, lie and say that democrats are going to raise EVERYONE’S taxes.

    4. Repeat

Goofy Gorrell didn’t mind when republicans gave way trillions to billionaires and corporations for the Tax Cut and Spend Scam, which gave nothing in return. Yet now he whines when Biden wants to try and get try and get to much needed repairs and upgrades to our infrastructure and perhaps even get the US back on track as a world leader, instead of slipping into a third world country status on the world stage.

You have to invest in your country to get anything instead of relying on Billionaires and Corporations to dictate what you are allowed to do. They will cheat you every time if it nets them an extra nickle in profit..

We were told the same thing about our kids and grand kids paying the bill back in the 1970s.

But the Biden spending plans all contain measures to pay for those big $$$$$ bills – increased taxes on individuals making more than $400,000/year and big corporations that hide most of their income in loopholes in current tax law.

So unless “your children” are going to be pulling down big fat six figure salaries (like Trump did when he was 8), they won’t be paying this bill.

Anyone who believes that the government needs/should operate like a business with a budget similar to a profit making enterprise has no business writing an editorial cartoon.

A government is NOT a business. We have immense resources to draw upon. The United States of America is eternal and should be drafting budgets appropriately.

Hey, there will be no repayment, it will simply be devaluation of the currency. Can you say Weimar Republic Marks? https://richterstamps.co.za/hyperinflation-in-the-weimar-republic

At least the country and I will get something out of the President Biden plan, unlike the trump tax giveaway, where the 1% got billions and then sent the money overseas to hide it.

So I should prefer watching my kids drive over dilapidated bridges?? I should be ok with my daughter having to chose whether or not to abandon her career because republics still think it’s 1958 and women can just stay home. And if you think bill for clean energy is steep now wait until you see it after all the industrialized world has passed us by.

Speaking of payment due immediately, how many of y’all having paying back the Payroll Tax Deduction that the Trump Admin. initiated late last year as a last minute “re-election” stunt? Or the last time someone got a nice pay raise or bonus from their wealthy employer after Dec2017/Jan2018 when the Trickle Down Tax Cut bill was made law? Yeah, thought so.

GQP cartoonists: If the rich get at least 95% of the benefit (more in the longer term) spending is GOOD. Otherwise, spending is BAD. (and forget about what is bought with that spending, and ignore what the expected payoffs are).

We are already in trillions of dollars of debt. Might as well get ourselves some incredibly useful things like safe roads and bridges, lead-free water pipes, and broadband while we’re at it.

Seriously, we need these things to have an efficiently-functioning economy. If we don’t, we will never really be able to pay off our debts, because of all of the economic output lost by not having infrastructure, childcare, etc.

Let’s see now … Trickle Down, Supply Side, Voodoo Economics, Massive Tax Cuts for Wealthy Individuals and Corporate Entities, prolonged wars, profligate defense spending; all leading to massive deficits? Is there a picture emerging?

Another cartoon lying about Biden’s plans.

Biden is proposing that the cost be paid from current taxes, and not deferred to future generations.

That latter is what the Republicans have been doing since the days of Reagan, though the Trump-McConnell “tax cuts” have been the worst.
