Ignoring U.S. politics. It shows how much literacy was being dumbed down even when this was first printed. That level of reading was aimed at an age when older generations were reading books aimed at early teenagers by then.

The “Wiley’s Dictionary” strips are generally lame, but when I was six or so I was regularly bringing my BC reprints to my mom and dad and asking “What’s this word?”
