Folks, watch for trolls trying to start wars. Take a look at the Big Nate board if you want to see what they’re up to. The folks over there have a wiki where they openly brag about how many wars they can start, how many “first” posts and “featured” posts they can grab, etc. etc. They compete to be the ones to make a post right after the comics are published for the day because that can set the tone for the rest of the day’s comments and also gives them a greater chance of being the featured post. A lot of times it’s done by asking a really stupid question or comment (see today’s Crabgrass for an example). And they’re branching out from there to other boards now. Some are covering their tracks by posting lots of items to years-old comics in order to obliterate their posting history.
Don’t feed the trolls.
Also, for a little historical perspective, read about an ancient group called alt.syntax.tactical from Usenet. Tactics are very similar. So be on your toes (or hooves, as the case may be.)
