Unicorns are fierce fighters, regularly taking on lions. And their horns cure wounds and illnesses (presumably only when needed; it would be counterproductive to stab a lion through the heart and have the wound close up as soon as the horn is withdrawn). Can your beloved Pegasus do anything like that?
Unicorns get along with little girls because they’re drawn to virginal purity, but if you’ve lost your V-card they’d as soon run you through as look at you.
(Also, if you go back to the Middle Ages and Renaissance, unicorns look as much like deer as they do like horses, with long necks and cloven hooves.)
