Somehow I get the feeling that Rall hates these incremental steps toward perfection. Me, I guess I am one of those abused dogs… and I’m, maybe not quite reveling, but at least enjoying the contrast from the prior administration, when something occurs that’s not just less awful but actually at least a little bit good.
Say what you will about Joe Biden, but he’s a competent and experienced politician: he knows that the secret to success is to set your bar low. He’s delivered on his promise to not be Trump, and that’s all his supporters are going to see.
When you’re in a basement, standing atop an overturned bucket still leaves you in the basement. The only reason to feel better is that maybe you are instead standing on the first step leading out of said basement. But that’s certainly no reason to celebrate and stop moving, which is metaphorically what a lot of people are doing – as they snipe at those who want to keep moving.
I read somewhere that most revolutions start not when things are at their worst but when, after having BEEN their worst, things start to get a little bit better. Those who have been given an inch stand and demand the mile.
So keep your chin up, Ted. You may yet get that cleansing fire you’ve wanted for so long…
Start a war? The USA averages 150 countries our soldier are in with little publicity. Until some die like in Niger a few years ago. This had been going on for more than a decade as the US puts it’s footprint all over the world.

You have to admire a cartoon with the chutzpah to say “things are getting better, and I hate that.”
