How does critical race theory oppose that MLK quote, Al?

I’m sure it’s a very VERY hard idea for ol Al to grasp, that in order to treat everyone fairly, you have to actually notice who they are  AND go out of your way to remove barriers that they’ve been (unequally) dealing with. But hey, he’s old, he’s white, he’s male, how the heck would HE recognize culturally embedded racial or gender bias.

In Al’s reality, racial profiling is encouraged, instead of frowned upon.

Perpetuating old, tired racial diatribes, is racist in itself. Explain why black people are incarcerated at a higher rate than white people. What are people of color shot by police at a higher rate than white people? Why is the perception so popular that black people are more likely to be criminals than white people?

All of these are problems of race bias that need to be dealt with through education. Having watched the last administration try to pass education programs that were race blind (1776 program), is a clear cut example of white washing away the racial bias in the US that led to the problems we have today.

What you’ve presented above is as racist as Nazi anti-Jew propaganda. You should be ashamed.

Googwyn has achieved that which was previously deemed impossible. A cartoon that exceeds Henry Payne in stupidity.

There is nothing in the Critical Race Theory which supports your cartoon, Mr. Goodwyn.

I am so tired of seeing racists trot out this out-of-context quote from Dr. King. Notice he didn’t say “Today people are judged not by the color of their skin…”, he said he looks forward to that day. We still look forward to that day. Meanwhile, we have work to do so that we can get to that day. People like Goodwyn are blocking the road.

All people, regardless of color, should follow police instructions when in a situation. In fact, that only takes common sense!

I’m going to go out on a limb here and actually comment on Al’s toon. He brings up a famous MLK quote which is true that one’s race should not be the determining factor for judgements. I believe Brother King was trying to make a statement too that all races shouldn’t be judged by their race, not just his own black shade. Indeed, racism isn’t just white man’s disease, as one black legislator from my state once said, but a condition that we all have to deal with.

As a white Xn minister for over forty years, I have endeavored to open my churches to all races that we might fulfill John 3:16’s call, “For God so loved the world…” not just those like us. But, what I have noticed about many black congregations troubles me greatly. Whereas the traditionally white flocks have sought to reach out to other races, black folks especially, the black congregations have been rather lax with integration of their flocks. The reason for this troubled me till I realized that black folks see integration differently than whites do. For whites, we see integration as a duty, while our black brethren see it as an opportunity. Now, if I had been living under the pains of Jim Crowe then I too might see integration differently. But, until all citizenry get into the game and accept out responsibility to work out this idea of integration, we will continue being separate and not equal.

We are all in this together: together we stand; divided we fall.

Goodwyn thinks that people haven’t already been judged by the color of their skin, for decades?

Sadly, we’re still waiting for that day, Dr King, but the ignorant and fearful who deny a principal tenet of our country that all men are created equal have turned their fear of losing privileges they never had into hate against those who’s darker skin somehow makes them evil. In reality, it’s not the skin color that makes men evil; it’s the blood they shed. In the end, when blood is shed, it’s all the same color red. Lead us with your dreams, Dr King. Some day…

If al tried to explain this cartoon in a few simple direct sentences, I think the nonsense would embarrass even him.

Hmmm when MLK Jr. made that statement he was referring to all the Black and Brown people that faced being marginalized and abused by the government and law enforcement. Now that accountability is being had, the right wing want you to believe it’s because of the light color of their skin and not cause they actually did something wrong. Shocking.

“ CRT is not a diversity and inclusion ‘training’ but a practice of integrating race and racism in society…. It critiques how the social construction of race and institutionalized racism perpetuate a racial caste system that relegates people of color to the bottom tiers.” —Janel George.Goodwyn’s cartoon is misleading and perpetuates ignorance and misunderstanding. Oh, and racism.
