I’ve been thinking about this. My conclusion, not pretty, is that we paused the J & J and AZ vaccines because the very slight chance of death is completely at variance with the intended use of the vaccine. But the reason that we don’t “pause” the use of firearms is because the deaths are NOT at variance with the intended use of the weapon.

Apparently the gun manufacturers and their NRA lobbyists have a more effective politician-buying operation than Big Pharma, Big Toy Manufacturing or Big anything else.

Anything else demonstrates even the slightest possible risk of an adverse consequence and BAM! Labels and warnings everywhere, products banned or highly restricted.

Guns, which are allowed as a right only subject to being for maintaining a “well-regulated militia,” can kill and maim hundreds of thousands and the pro-terrorist lobby prohibits even the slightest, most minimal effort to close loopholes that allow easy access to firearms for terrorists, convicted violent felons, domestic abusers or those who are so mentally unstable that they have to have their Social Security Disability checks managed by a conservator.

Anyone who obstructs legislation to close the loopholes — laws with real teeth in them that can’t be evaded simply by crossing a state line to attend a gun show or place an Internet order — is not merely a terrorist sympathizer, but actively aiding and abetting terrorists and violent felons.

Once upon a time, the NRA was a respected organization promoting sportsmanship and gun safety. Today, sadly, it has become a pro-terrorism organization.

…and in 43 states Republicans have proposed over 250 laws to restrict access to voting to tens of millions of voters, although no fraud was found in the last election that would have changed the results…..

Guns have a 100% efficacy rate. Nobody spreads the virus after getting their brains blown out by a .45.

It was Republicans in many states that shut down public mental health facilities starting in the 70s and 80s. Nice job, GQP. Add the GQPs love for guns: disaster.

But I thought the solution to the gun violence problem was more guns. If good people have guns they will deter the bad people with guns from using theirs. Just like the balance of power between the USSR and the USA in the nuclear arms race prevented nuclear war.

they always say guns don’t kill people – yet in every shooting death there is a gun involved ! i know we will never get rid of guns but don’t be a F-in A-hole and pretend like the gun has no role in it

Well, duh, some vaccine shots can cause blood clots, whereas gun shots DON’T cause blood clots, only spilled blood, oh, and don’t forget the healing that comes from the thoughts and prayers afterwards…

One is a failed product, the other is a successful product. People would shy away from a vaccine that kills them. People will buy more automatic guns when seeing how efficient they are in mass shootings.

The gun lobby borrowed the playbook from the tobacco lobby.

J&J has not had enough time to develop the proper lobbyists.

What is more important: rights or lives? I’ve always been taught that one’s rights end at another’s endangered life. J and J are mostly interested in protecting their brand name as well as their ability to make sales in the future. But, although they’re motivated by profit, nevertheless, they’re not saying their product should be used because it’s their right to sell.

But but but… access to guns is GOOD for people – it’s good for gun and ammo manufacturers, it’s good for the NRA, it’s good for Congressmen who get paid off by gun lobbyists, it’s good for perpetually frightened people who think guns make them Dirty Harry… /s

How many of the shootings were committed by convicted felons, mental health patients and other people who even 25-30 years ago would have been locked up instead of roaming the streets?

How many of the shooters obtained firearms despite being forbidden to do so by law?

Don’t blame the guns, blame the crazy people who get their hands on them, and that those who sell them to the these crazies don’t do the background check.

The Glorious State of Indiana allows sawed-off shotguns to be sold. The 1 and only purpose of those guns is to murder people. They have no other use. Go Indiana (sarcasm)
