Someone once asked me shortly after I go out of the service about the differences between here and Vietnam. I said that in Vietnam we were allowed to shoot back.

Well, over there, the folks aiming to kill you hate the idea that you represent and are willing to die to make their point. Over here, the folks aiming to kill you come in two flavors:

The blue flavor, which kills folks without a trial… and with a strong bias toward killing folks with dark skin.

And the crazy (white)(male) flavor which is a little more equal-victim-tunity, but mainly different because of the size of the weapons.

If the guy in the middle buys a new vehicle, he better have the temp tag very visible.

Good to know we’ve spent 20 years training people on military style weapons while putting them through massive stress.

What could go wrong?

Thankfully we have plenty of money allocated to help them when they get back.

We do have that money allocated, don’t we?

To put things into perspective:

“Every day, 316 people are shot in the United States,” according to the anti-gun violence group Brady (formerly the Brady Campaign).“Among those,” Brady reports, “106 people are shot and killed.”“Every day, 22 children and teens (1-17) are shot in the United States. Among those,” Brady adds, “5 die from gun violence.”Annually, 38,826 people die from gun violence.

By comparison: over a period of 20 years a total of approx. 2,000 US deaths have resulted from the war in Afghanistan, an average of 100 per year.

The chances of being killed in Afghanistan are definitely higher than the chances of being killed by gun violence in the US. But the numbers in the US are still astronomically high.

By comparison: in the war between Ukraine and Russian backed forces in the past 7 years, there have been a total of approx. 13,500 fatalities (ca. 3,500 were civilians). That is an average of under 2,000 per year. In a war.

The war within the US seems to be against civility and equal justice/opportunity for all … led by a shameless faction that fears the future where their self-bestowed entitlement is not acknowledged by anyone EXCEPT themselves.

Yeah. Most of the guys over there want to stay. Saying it was too dangerous in the U.S., especially since most U.S. citizens carry more powerful weapons than the guys do.

But except for Joe, the rest of the politicians on Capitol Hill don’t give two damns about mass shootings because it doesn’t affect them!

Except that many of the shootings within the U.S. are by people who know the victim, not by a random stranger like occurs in a war.

The established police force will not take kindly to sharing the turf

So wait. President Trump made the decision to pull all the troops out of Afghanistan by May 1st. Biden is extending that date to September 11. This ‘toon and the comments seem to be giving cred to something Trump already planned to do and earlier than Biden.

In 1968, the deadliest year of the Vietnam war, America lost 8.5 troops for every 100,000 of the US population at the time. In 2017 we lost 12 Americans per 100,000 from firearms andi n 2018 we lost 11.9 Americans per 100,00. Compared to other wealthy nations, we have 25 times the number of deaths by firearms. And, for the brain-washed idiots who keep insisting that “Only people kill people,” firearm deaths by suicide have gone up every year in this century with over 24,000 committing suicide by guns every year, so apparently, people need trigger locks on their trigger fingers because the biggest danger to yourself is your self.

One would think why would refugees and migrants want to flee their country to come to the US. Don’t they realize what they are walking into?
