There are two serious signals this increasingly open racism, bigotry and White Supremacy are sending:
First is that it shows they are increasingly comfortable with being open, and that a lot of the country agrees with them.
Second is that they don’t care that a majority of the country doesn’t agree with them, as they are fixing it so that the majority doesn’t get to run the country any more.
Slavery has been around since before recorded history – Persian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, European (what exactly were the serfs, Europeans tied to the land). Think that you don’t have a slave or two in your ancestry ? We all do, probably even the Queen herself. No sense in feeling superior here.
The Chinese workers may be wage slaves, but they are not literal slaves. They are not owned by another person, and will not be arrested and imprisoned for trying to escape. Same for the Irish that came to the US as indentured servants. They could buy their way out of servitude, or had to be released when they had repaid their debt.
There are key differences between Chinese forced labor and the chattel slavery that the US used to enslave people based on their African heritage.
1) No one in China is born into bondage. Slaves in America were either imported or born into bondage.
2) Chinese forced laborers are not bought or sold.
3) There actually is a kind of forced labor in America which is actually similar. But it’s the kind that remains legal under the US constitution: prison labor. It’s still not the same as slavery, which was profoundly worse even than that.
Majority White male led corporations that outsource their products being made in China and other Asian manufacturing plants that uses slave labor has to be the epitome of hypocrisy. But lets target NBA players who have no say over where their employers (old White owners) decide where the uniforms are made and bought from. But do go on, Lester. Tell us the NBA, NFL and other major league sports CEOs and team owners really demand everything should be made in the USA.
Some toonist’s are depicting Biden wearing a “Make China Great Again” hat. Biased morons that they are, do they forget that American businesses wrote and pushed for the North American Free Trade Agreement? This pact was sold to us stating that it would make the U.S., Canada and Mexico as a powerful solid trading bloc, able to compete with Europe and Asia. “A rising tide lifts all boats” G.H.W. Bush told us. (Only the yachts were lifted!) Yet, MANY companies and corporations took advantage of its clauses to ship jobs to first Asia, then Eastern Europe to save not only on wages, but circumvent environmental I financial laws, and, of course, LOW TAXES. Both sides of Congress passed this disastrous legislation, ignoring Ross Perot’s warnings. Millions of American workers got screwed while investor profits (and executive salaries) soared!
Well, if the NBA players are responsible for that hypocrisy. then I have an easy solution: They should play nude†. There y’go, problem solved. Plus it might pull in some females who wouldn’t otherwise watch.
† Probably have to let them wear shoes (and socks) and jock straps, to avoid injury.
Bit of history. The term “slave” is derived from the ethnic word Slav. The Muslims would cross the Black Sea and use Crimea as a slave processing and trading post as well as staging base into the Slavic lands of Russia and Europe. The Slavic people were considered the most attractive and valuable among Islamic, Asian and African nations. Over the years the number of white Slavs captured and enslaved far exceeded the blacks which were shipped to the Americas. Then there were the pirates of the Barbary Coast who would raid up and down the European and English coast for slaves. If you were lucky and belonged to a wealthy family you stood a good chance to be ransomed. Attractive females were bound for the harems, those not so comely for menial household labor. Males stood a good chance of castration and unless they had a desirable skill were bound for hard labor. Note, all this took place during and hundreds of years before the African slave trade to the Americas.
I’m guessing Mike doesn’t buy anything made in China. Who am I kidding? Mike’s starting to go full Stiglich. I suspect one of his next cartoons is going to involve the “media” making martyrs out of murdered unarmed Black men, while insinuating they were killed because they weren’t saints or something.
Could the NBA be any more racist??? Disproportionate lack of Caucasians, total inequity. When are the people going to stand up and burn Stadiums down from all of this Inequity?!?!

So now Lester believes hypocrisy is a bad thing?
.
I eagerly await more Lester cartoons about hypocrisy.
Maybe some about democracy and voting.
Or waiting for elections before Supreme Court justice nominees are allowed hearings.
It’s a long and rich list.

Being a mouthpiece for the STUPID is hard work. Good that Lester seems to have a natural talent for it. Cuts down on his energy depletion.

The more things change, the more they remain the same – here’s something from the sixties:
“Had a little rally the other night,
’Shot up town in a fury.
Luke’s arrested, Pa’s on trial,
And the rest of us are on the jury . . .
(sigh)
