’Bout time. Thousands of live lost or shattered and $2 trillion dollars later we are in the same place as every other outsider since Alexander the Great.
Its probably China’s turn to get mired in that place. Maybe they should route the new Silk Road through Afghanistan and deal with the warlords. That will keep them busy for the next couple of decades
If after all of this time we can’t “win” this war, apparently we either cannot or don’t really want to win it. So why keep wasting American lives and resources on it?
The neoconservative movement, started in the liberal camp, by their hawkish members, when they were tired of waiting for democracy to spread naturally — over centuries — decided to help it along, by aiding rebels, and other strategies, to overturn authoritarian nations and accelerate the road to democracy.
Strangely, in spite of antiliberal sentiment, the “Republicans” adopted it wholeheartedly.
Exactly. That ribbon went up, what, almost 2 decades ago? (I feel sorry for the metaphorical tree). Obama was supposedly going to leave, then Trump, now Biden. And they’re all lying.
This always mildly irritates me. The yellow ribbon is based on a song about an ex con asking for forgiveness. The ribbon was not a symbol of welcome but of forgiveness. Our troops deserve better than a symbol of forgiveness. How about red white and blue bows?
Why has one of my favorite political cartoons vanished off “My Cartoons Page”? Only way to see Clay Bennett is to click on Political Cartoons. But what comes up is a format that I can’t ‘save to file’.
“We should have respected Afghanistan’s reputation as “the graveyard of empires” and Pakistan’s deserved reputation for double-dealing.” …Maureen Dowd, NYT’s columnist.
It’s past time, but Biden changed the timeline agreed upon by the Taliban, so I doubt it will happen. Again, that’s what Wall Street wants, so the MIC will keep manufacturing weapons and we will keep killing innocent civilians. Why is it so hard to elect a decent politician.

The war is older than the girls Matt Gaetz dates. Twice as old as the girl Trump said he would like to marry in a few years.
