That was never a problem as a kid, we ran out of summer long before we ran out of trouble to get into (sigh)

We were never home…there was the boys clubhouse in the field..who the girls weren’t allowed! HA!

There was the ice skating pond, baseball in the street, hide and seek, the pool, snowball fights, building an igloo and freezing snake balls, making snowmen, roaming around from one house to another, kick the can, hopscotch, roller skating…on and on. But when the streetlights came on, that was the signal to head home!

We’d hop a freight, ride out to the pond, splash around on our raft all day, and ride another freight back home. Otherwise, we’d get our slingshots and break a few streetlights, climb into the tree house and eat mulberries, or raid a neighbor’s cherry tree when they weren’t looking. Kids were less inhibited in the fifties.
