I remember going to camp as a kid, and being 100% certain that I’d be totally miserable. In reality, I only ended up being miserable about 50% of the time.

Man, Chuck has a big duffle bag, almost like the one you would use to bring a little league game on the road. Anyhow, I wonder what would happen if Chuck went AWOL and simply does not get on the bus?

I always hated the idea of going to scout camp but always had a great time when I got there. With one huge exception. We saw a small boy run out of a shop in Kinver in the West Midlands of England and get hit by a car. You don’t need the details but it didn’t end well. Other than that camps were great when we got there. New places, sunny beaches and new experiences.

The worst that can happen is meeting a boy who only says, “Shut up and leave me alone!”

Maybe you could do something so bad that you are sent home on the 1st day, thus ending your camp turmoil …

I accidentally got into poison oak once. True story: I ended up in a medical journal as a result. I do not recommend getting into poison oak.

If you want Charlie Brown to meet a girl at camp, turn to page 141.

    Alright, let’s give it shot.

“Oh wow! There’s that girl the other campers talked about. Alright. It’s time to try talking to her.”

“What do YOU want, Charlie Brown?”

    “LUCY?!”

I’m sorry, Charlie Brown. I’m so sorry.

Just what camp is he going to that everyone was itching to get out of? I had a blast at summer camp the two years I went. I mean, I didn’t particularly care for every single activity, but I had a lot of fun. I couldn’t wait to go back the next year. I even wanted to go for two weeks but my dad said no, it cost too much, so only one.

The ecstasy and the agony. Maybe you’ll just make lanyards Charlie Brown, play some mumblety-peg, and sing 99 bottles of beer on the wall and Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen on the bus.

I stood in bus station like that waiting to go to Boot Camp, and no hope of meeting a beautiful girl, or even an ugly one for that manner
