Back in the early 1990’s Senior Year Engineering students at my school used to wallpaper their walls with rejection letters to their resumes. We all got jobs eventually. It was simply considered a sign of how hard you were searching. If your buddy had more “square footage” covered than you did, it was motivation to get some more resumes out.
I was among the first generation that didn’t have to depend on a typewriter – but I can say that keyboards were surprisingly more comfortable as a pillow than one might expect.
