DeSantis is not less of a turd because he can withstand criticism from the media.

60 minutes edited out his reply to the reporter. Nice try, failed news show.

They need to boost the charge and try again—I really don’t want to be dealing with him as a potential on the 2024 ticket. His orange idol was bad enough.

A 60 Minutes story on Sunday that implied that Florida governor Ron DeSantis picked Publix to distribute vaccines as part of a “pay to play” scheme. 60 minutes deliberately editing out key parts of the DeSantis response to their reporter during a press conference. In an unaired portion of the exchange, DeSantis explained how CVS and Walgreens pharmacies had first access to the vaccine and a mission to inoculate people living in long-term care facilities.

Florida’s emergency management director, (Jared Moskowitz – Democrat), says he first reached out to Walmart, but they wouldn’t be ready to distribute the vaccine for three weeks. Moskowitz had been saying since early March that Florida picked Publix to distribute vaccines because it was the only pharmacy company at the time that “could execute the mission.”

The response from Publix to the 60 minute report was: “The irresponsible suggestion that there was a connection between campaign contributions made to Governor DeSantis and our willingness to join other pharmacies in support of the state’s vaccine distribution efforts is absolutely false and offensive."

Dave Kerner, the mayor of Palm Beach County, also pushed back on the 60 Minutes story, which was based on disparities in vaccine access in Palm Beach County. In a prepared statement, Kerner, who also is a Democrat, called the story “intentionally false,” said it was “based on bad information,” and said that the media “are hellbent on dividing us for cheap views and clicks. 60 Minutes should be ashamed.”

So when is 60 Minutes going to apologize to DeSantis and investigate their own cheap shot journalism ?

According to a recent article in ‘The Miami Times,’ CVS pharmacies in predominantly black areas of Miami did not provide COVID-19 vaccinations.

A more important story than ‘DeSantis vs. 60 Minutes?’

So egregiously dishonest was 60 Minutes’ attempt that, shortly after it aired, the director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management took to Twitter to condemn it. “I said this before and I’ll say it again,” Jared Moskowitz wrote. “Publix was recommended by FLSERT [State Emergency Response Team] and HealthyFla [Florida Department of Health] as the other pharmacies were not ready to start. Period! Full Stop! No one from the Governors office suggested Publix. It’s just absolute malarkey.” Moskowitz, note, is no ideological ally of Governor DeSantis. On the contrary: He describes himself as a “progressive,” served as a Democrat in the Florida legislature until 2019, and has worked in various capacities for Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, and Barack Obama. His father, Michael, is one of the top Democratic fundraisers in the state.
