Wow, the early days of the internet. Dial-up, Netscape, Blogspot, Rocketmail, AOL…

It’s a shock seeing something from the past, like the current Doonesbury reruns this week from 1995.

I remember working as a video editor at a TV station in the 90s and getting our first non-linear editing system which had eight 9GB hard drives linked together to store and access media. Each one was the size of a hard-cover novel. We thought we were so cool.

Love the sign on the door! My first job was with one of the divisions of General Motors in 1974. The guys in the blueprints department had that one on the wall. Totally appropriate! (Well, actually, they were pretty quick, but like all such departments, plagued by the engineers and techs who needed something right now.

Raises the question, how did they manage to stay in business?

Not regarding tech – but with the poster on the wall reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw – “Tardis Express – when you absolutely, positively need it yesterday.”

Ah, yes, Geocities. Yahoo paid $3.6 billion for it in 1999. After 10 years of losing money, they pulled the plug in 2009.

Love the art for these… sometimes I forget how crazy the fashions were in the 80’s… it was a fun time.
