    Misinformation?

Georgia Republicans* were distraught over the results of their last elections.

Their legislation was rushed through specifically in order to change the results of the next election.

    .

    NO other reason.

Not only is this comic late, but it’s not an issue worth whining about. Racist Republican politicians can make their choices, and businesses can make their choices.

Four Pinocchios to both of you. Read the bill. MLB is moving the game from a location that is the best place in America for a black-owned business to one that ranks 26th. That’ll teach ’em! https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/small-business/best-places-for-black-owned-businesses

The ball was hit behind closed doors and nobody but Georgia Republicans saw it split the seam. Was there millions of dollars inside? Maybe fraudulent ballots? Maybe uncounted votes for Trump that would have given him the election? Who knows? . . . . S

Way to go MLB. Moving your game from an area in Georgia that is about 50% black to Colorado which 4% black. Who do they think they’re really hurting? To top it off, Colorado’s voting law are basically the same as Georgia just enacted.

Morality, not Politics, Ramirez. Although I do understand your confusion, as the GQP doesn’t recognize the word.

Not based on misinformation at all. The Georgia law was based an a BIG LIE and Republicans losing seats they thought were a gimme. Especially when they write in this Soviet-style kicker:

    https://www.snopes.com/ap/2021/04/02/explainer-what-does-georgias-new-gop-election-law-do/

“Much of the work administering elections in Georgia is handled by the state’s 159 counties. The law gives the State Election Board new powers to intervene in county election offices and to remove and replace local election officials. That has led to concerns that the Republican-controlled state board could exert more influence over the administration of elections, including the certification of county results.

One target for intervention could be Fulton County, a Democratic stronghold that contains most of Atlanta. The heavily populated county has been plagued by problems, including long lines, and it is often singled out by Republican officials. Under the law, the board could intervene in up to four counties at a time and install a temporary superintendent with the ability to hire and fire personnel including elections directors and poll officers."

Politics has poisoned and stained every fabric in our society and pitted everyone against each other for the good of their own party, not the people. So much for UNITY!

All of life involves politics Michael. This is nothing new. From the first time you asked for extra bread at the family dinner table, we are involved in politics. Some of us (nay, many of us), just fail to see this. Politic: (of an action) seeming sensible and judicious in the circumstances. From this we get: Politics (from Greek: Πολιτικά, politiká, ‘affairs of the cities’) is the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations between individuals, such as the distribution of resources or status. It’s not all about your tribe, even if that is what you desire.

Rambo-mirez ignores (with a capital IG) that republican voter restriction “laws” are based on politics and misinformation. If they really and truly want to improve elections and make them more honest they’d START with the problem of IDs. First make an open and transparent plan for how to make sure that every legally valid voter could get one that the state would accept, including all elderly and disabled citizens. Then plan how to make sure that there enough polling places so that voters don’t have to go long distances and wait in long lines in order to use their legal right under the Constitution to cast their ballot. And then, AND ONLY THEN write a clear, honest law requiring "voter IDs. Instead the republicans write and sign a “so called” law as a one party cabal.

In a perverted way, the caption is correct:

Republikkkans value politics and power over democracy and country,

And, Republikkkans spread misinformation in the form of the Big Lie about voter fraud and election irregularities.

This, and this alone, was the motivation for the changes to their election laws.

Biden lied, black businesses died. Way to go, Democrats. Really helping the little guy. Atlanta – 50% black, Denver – 5%. You showed them, all right.

Looks like the MLB and many commenters on this strip obviously has not read the bill. Of all of the requirements for which legal identification is needed, voting is the only situation where it is racist. And well done, Manfred, for moving the All-Star Game from Atlanta (51% black population), Georgia to Denver (9% black population) Colorado, a state with even stricter voting regulations, because of racism.

Chinese state media reported on April 1 the extended and expanded TV contract between Major League Baseball and China. (So the MLB must think it’s OK that China is carrying out crimes against humanity and genocide against the Uyghurs? That 21 century concentration camps with over 1000000 people is not as serious as Georgia’s requirement that voters write a driver’s license number or other identifier on absentee-ballot envelopes? (BTW: Ohio, the state where the last All-Star Game was played, has a similar absentee-ballot rule.)

So I guess the MLB will have to move out of New York because New York doesn’t have no-excuse absentee voting and Georgia does. NY offers fewer days of early voting than Georgia, and NY has its own law against giving food and drink to voters.

Another funny way of showing your concern for alleged “voting restrictions” is by moving the All-Star Game to a state that in many ways has voting laws at least as stringent as Georgia’s. To vote in Colorado, a person needs photo identification, just as they do at the will-call window at Coors Field. Like Colorado, Georgia allows voters without ID to use the last four digits of their Social Security number, a bank statement or utility bill, a paycheck, or any other government document with their name and address. Though ID requirements are the provision Democrats hate most, they are broadly popular among voters, which is why they are compelled to use hyperbole and disinformation when talking about the rest of these laws.

MLB’s decision will hurt the very people the league is purporting to support. The game was going to bring economic activity to Atlanta, which is a majority-black city. It would have meant money for hotel and restaurant employees, hot-dog and T-shirt vendors, and other shift workers. Now the game will be in a city with only 9% blacks. #AllStartGameSoWhite

    Good Job MLB!
