No difference between Obama, Trump and Biden. We get the joke. But Bernie believes in personal freedom that is why he joined 201 members of the party of personal freedom in voting for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

Rall has a point here. Check out “Honduras Coup” at Huffpost, for instance.

This has been going on since the Monroe Doctrine, but Ted has to get in a dig at President Obama.

The U.S. was just following tradition in Central America of overthrowing popular governments and having them replaced with right-wing authoritarian ones. Geesh…/s

What country is the dark guy talking about? Honduras? And how did Obama-Biden destabilize it?

The 2009 Honduran coup d’état came when power was transferred in a coup from the president to the head of Congress. It was condemned by the U.N., OASD and most everyone else. The Obama Administration had nothing to do with the coup.

On June 29 President Obama declared that “the coup was not legal”

Mr. Rall this is quite a leap to attempt to tie the Obama Presidency with the change in government in Honduras. If anything they did, that could be considered wrong, it would be that they didn’t call it a coup. And that was PROBABLY due to the fact that the would cause all aid to Honduras to cease. Usually you are fairly neutral on your political arguments but this one is lacking.

The suppression of Central American government to El Norte business interests goes well back into the 19th century. The term “banana republic” was used by the writer O. Henry in 1904 to describe the government in Honduras.

While international fruit companies have made some progress To improve working conditions in Central America, the governments such as they are in those countries are still oppressive and corrupt, and violence is widespread. Is it a wonder, then, that civilian populations want to migrate north?

Therefore, for well over a hundred years the bad situation has festered. How many U.S. politicians have during that time allowed this to remain? It is especially in recent years that the American public is aware of it because of the influx of refugees to our borders. But things have been building up to this for a long, long time.

Will it finally be dealt with effectively within our generation? Let’s hope that question has an answer, and is not merely rhetorical.

I should stop reading Ted (and giving him clicks), I know I should. But it’s like reading AC Branco. If you’re a student of the medium, the train wreck is hypnotic.

Can’t let them godless commies get a foothold in the Americas! Better a brutal right-wing dictatorship than a godless commie regime. Call Ollie North; if the money’s right, he’ll put a stop to it, just like in Nicaragua! He didn’t? Well, shoot! OK, send Jarhead Kushner.

Technically, the Obama administration wasn’t behind the coup or him being overthrown. But they had a role in Zelaya not returning to power after the coup…which enabled the Junta to takeover. And that enabled a human rights disaster in Honduras. We should have joined the international community in condemning the coup, instead of the actions the US took after the coup.

Actually, Eisenhower & the Dulles bros. (John Foster, secy. of state, Allan, CIA Director) started it by overthrowing a democratically elected govt. (at the behest of United Fruit Co.) & claiming that they had prevented a “communist” takeover. Among their other “greatest hits” we can include Iran…

After doing some reading, I keep seeing the phrase: Obama’s deafening silence on the coup in Honduras, although I also found that he called the military take-over illegal. No one was offering any evidence that his administration had anything to do with it, never mind being behind it. This is just another ridiculous Ted Rall conspiracy theory.

U.S. President Barack Obama is quoted as saying “We believe that the coup was not legal and that President Zelaya remains the president of Honduras, the democratically elected president there.”

The main reason the US didn’t officially declare it to be a coup was doing so would mean they would be obligated to cut off all aid to the people of Honduras.
