Republicans are fighting having to show vaccine papers for travel but push ID for voters. Voters are registered with their districts The voting rolls are already familiar with them. Their voting registration is checked when they vote. There are plenty of checks on who is voting and what their identity is. The GOP is just trying to make it hard for poor people to vote.

I thought Republicans were OK with businesses making their own rules. If airlines want to require proof of vaccination to fly on their planes, what’s the problem?

Private businesses can place any requirements they wish on their visitors and customers. I am happy to show my vaccine card if asked. That’s because I am not stupid. Unfortunately the majority of Republicans seem to have contracted the stupidity virus these days.

Voting illegally is like robbing a bank and then asking to open an account in which to deposit the loot.

If this kind of thing were happening as frequently as Republicans claim, you’d think we’d learn about more prosecutions.

If we ask every American to carry a national ID card, the Republicans will start pushing cartoons with jackbooted thugs asking “Vhere are yoor paperrs!?”

Without something like national identity cards, they’ll claim certain people aren’t able to vote.

They love having it both ways, as long as they get to stay in charge.

Dana, the GOP does it’s best to ensure that black voters have a hard time getting ID and that the ID they can get is no good for voting.

Back to Civics 101. A business has the right to require documentation to show a mitigation of risk, based on science. A government does not have the right to impede the voting process based on, well, racism.

Ignoring the fact that people have already provided I.D. in order to register is a common Republican failing.

Here, Summers also ignores the fact that people have been required to provide proof of vaccination for many years. Smallpox was eradicated this way.

Odd how GQPers/republicans/conservatives yell that their guns/weapons are guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment yet disagree that other amendments guarantee voting for all.“The Fifteenth Amendment granted the right to vote to former slaves and people of color. The Nineteenth Amendment gave the vote to women, while the Twenty-third, Twenty-fourth, and Twenty-sixth amendments gave representation to the District of Columbia, forbid poll taxes, and lowered the voting age to 18, respectively… The passage of each of these Amendments reflected a shift towards making voting a right of all citizens, and indeed a fundamental part of citizenship. Today, controversies hinge on how best to balance voter access with safeguards to ensure that fraud doesn’t undermine the sanctity of every individual’s vote.” – https://billofrightsinstitute.org/e-lessons/voting-rights-in-america?gclid=CjwKCAjw3pWDBhB3EiwAV1c5rIvKGNf6KSXt2BiMSCXpiIPlvu7THoYrHSV-IMyrUTsqxAXAAVwp5hoC5zIQAvD_BwE

Off-context again. It is businesses who are suggesting vaccination IDs – and Biden’s position is that is their prerogative but he is not going to make it a government mandate. Same with voter ID – it is a State issue since they are responsible for their election processes.

Apples and oranges. Businesses will get sued if they don’t take safety measures. Allowing people to vote is a different matter altogether.

Dana, do you have what it takes to say clearly, in print, that you really think voter ID laws, and all those restrictions passed or in the process in republican states, are exclusively or almost exclusively for the purpose of insuring election integrity? I have seen other cartoonists join in the comments section. Come on, show your honest convictions.

I tried to use my passport as ID in Missouri to buy cigarettes. The clerk had never seen one before and refused to accept it as ID. So, good luck with all that.

Voting is a right that is not harmful, and only provides input on the question of who our next leaders should be. Being non-vaccinated is somewhat dangerous, and going to bars is not really a right.

We don’t have ID in Australia. We have electoral rolls. People when they go to vote, have their names crossed off the roll. Pretty simple.

I find it downright risible that M Summers has decided to depict BUSINESSES as being “The Democrats”. Since when? Oh, of course: Since businesses are making purely objective careful choices that don’t agree with the Orange/GQP Agenda.

I really would be ROFL if I cared enough about what Summers “thinks”.

Insight for the uninformed. We have ways of ensuring against voter fraud. Like registration, address, signature, etc. That’s why Trump’s voter fraud commission disbanded – they couldn’t find anything.

This is always the laziest bullshit false equivalence ever.

You don’t need ID at the polls, because they already have your name in the rolls.

And proof of vaccination isn’t a form of ID.

Just… Such disingenuous stupidity is so aggravating.
