I would explore those areas about the situation with Steerpike taking over before leaving. If they are offering that much maybe you can find a good place outside of MMM. Or maybe get some improvements to your package at MMM. The father of a friend of mine was offered something similar many years ago. He told his boss and even though the company was not able to give him a pay increase he was able to reduce his hours to a 4 day week and only have to show up for weekly staff meetings. And this was in the 1990s. By that time much of Silicon Valley was allowing some workers to work from home.

I read those books about 50 years ago, and have never wanted to re-read. But I did see at least some of the TV version years ago and it seemed pretty good.
