The key is to make a game out of whatever chore you want them to help with. Yes, it takes imagination and patience but with a reward (picnic, beach, zoo, favorite frozen treat, or even “planting” an object for them to find) to entice, it’s a start to their gaining a sense of pride in having accomplished something on their own.
