“‘Thoughts?’” Republicans say. “What are these things people call ‘thoughts?’ I understand ‘prayers.’ Those are things like ‘I pray I don’t get thought trafficking young girls’. But ‘thoughts?’”

The part I can’t wrap my head around is over 80% of us want better gun regulation, yet over 50% of us keep voting for politicians who will not even consider starting to talk about it. I know the GOP is terrified of the various factions of its base, without any one of which they cannot win, but if you can’t even make an 80% majority work maybe you shouldn’t be in office at all. They are trapped by their own rhetoric and reduced to nothing but scare tactics and simplistic tropes. Yet, tragically, they succeed in stalling any real progress.

Thoughts and prayers don’t fund political parties… No wait. Yes, they do.

We can only HOPE that the Qpublicans are “So Very Close To Extinction!”… although VOTING DEMOCRATIC in EVERY ELECTION will help them shuffle off this mortal coil…

You guys don’t get it…. God has willed that bad things are gonna happen. Therefore, there’s nothin’ we can do about it. Okay, in this case, it’s a bad thing that involves gun. Well, God has also willed that Christians should own lots of guns. So here’s his solution as per the inevitable: Send prayers his way, and he’ll send comfort to ease the resulting pain, sorrow, and suffering when lots of mass shootings, accidental shootings, and suicides occur. On the other hand, when Democrats create the problem of, say, vote-casting that’s too easy, God stays out of such and wills it that humans, namely Republicans, enact legislation that will avert such a crisis. See.

It makes one wonder just what those Republican “Thoughts and Prayers” are. I suspect they are "Please let the voting public forget all about this by the time the next election rolls around.

    So, THEY WORK!

I would have asked God-Man for single-payer Medicare for all (gotta be specific) but then I’m not a Republican or establishment Democrat.

The Old Ones, the yellow starfish-heads created viruses which look more mechanical than organic and are not alive in any sense. They have found over time viruses work well with the kind of life they created here a billion or so years ago when they first arrived. (“At the Mountains of Madness” by Lovecraft is a good primer on the fantastic city that was found in the seemingly endless white wastes of Antarctica in the early 1930’s.)
