Food for thought. The word, „conservative“ never occurs in the King James Bible. The word „liberal“ does – several times – and often as a standard against which we will be judged.
Conservative Republicans today appear to stand for the very things Abraham Lincoln fought against 150 – 160 years ago.
It’s hard to tell anymore considering the lowering of bars, unbalanced scales, shifting of positions, changes in the spectrum, new normals and brain fog with fluctuating hormones.
Watch where you are going Carmen so that you don’t trip into GaetzGate territory who uses the right sound bites to convince MAGAts that he is a 2021 conservative.
Four Ways of Looking at the Radicalism of Joe Biden By Ezra Klein …The collapse of the Republican Party as a negotiating partner. Before Biden, Democratic presidents designed policy with one eye on at least mollifying Republican critics. That’s why a third of the 2009 stimulus was made up of tax cuts, why the Affordable Care Act was built atop the Romneycare framework, why President Bill Clinton’s first budget included sharp spending cuts. Biden always thought a bipartisan deal could be made and usually believed he was the guy who could make it. … over the past decade, congressional Republicans slowly but completely disabused Democrats of these hopes. … it’s impossible to overstate the damage that Mitch McConnell’s stonewalling of Merrick Garland did to the belief among Senate Democrats that McConnell was in any way a good-faith actor.
This has transformed policy design: These are now negotiations among Democrats, done with the intention of finding policies popular enough that Republican voters will back them, even if Republican politicians will not. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/08/opinion/biden-jobs-infrastructure-economy.html
The GOP is no doubt looking at their sinking approval ratings, and doing the only thing they know to do to win—cheat. The GOP is so desperate to win that they are passing legislation designed specifically to deny voting rights to known Democratic voters as a way to level the playing field for themselves. A playing field that, as Gallop notes, is rather lopsided, because any time the GOP has held the majority in party ID in the polls it has been “rare and short-lived.”
Democrats just don’t represent the majority of voters, we are the majority of customers for big corporations. We also represent the vast majority of economic power in this county. The counties that voted for Biden represent 70% of the GDP in this country. We need to continually hold Delta, Coke, et al feet to the fire and push for them to not only speak out against these blatant, partisan attempts to suppress the vote, but pressure them to donate to voting rights groups to fight the laws, and have them warn GOP legislators that if they back these bills, they’re donations will be cut off. The only thing that motivates the GOP is money.
Conservative – and liberal – are loose terms that change a lot over time.
Parties change even more, as they do a yin and yang between a narrow purge-the-unbeliever zealot phase to a big-tent-stand-for-muddle phase. Trump Republicans are in the purge-the-unbeliever phase, with RINO as an insult to many long-time Republicans. Biden’s trying to run a big tent and keep AOC and Manchin together.
Those defending the Confederate battle flag are the rinos in the party of Lincoln. There are very few Republicans left. The Party of Trump is the party of lies.

“Um … uh … Clintons bad?”

It’s the only truth on the matter; the word “conservative” has been destroyed by the right-wing populists.

Too many have confused “conservative” with “Republican”.
