If he robs the local bank he could also get six to ten years!

That brush is a bit broad. If you choose the right stuff to read it might help with your education. Smart is something that you –hopefully– are born with. However, education may teach you how to use your brains power.

Argue as you will, each of us has talents unique to us alone. It is the discovery of those talents, whether through the well worn nature or nurture theme or otherwise that takes up most of our early years. It is the improvement of and use of those talents that take up most of our waking hours – and quite a few of our dreams. In our later years, it is our success in that process by which we determine if we have lead satisfactory lives. T’is ever thus. Youth is striving for maturity. Age is maturity looking back at youth.

More knowledgeable, not smarter. Smart is the baseline you work with.

Wait until you’re older, kid. Then you can do sit-ups AND work your lats to get that V-shape. A “washboard” alone won’t do it.

Frankly, if you’re currently only 7 years old, pretty much anything you do with your body is gonna take 6 to 10 years.

Frazz 17h · I was definitely that kid when I was young, fully determined to circumvent the aging process through sheer effort. Or maybe sheer wishing. It probably went back and forth and the line blurs. Now, looking down the barrel at 60, I’m that kid all over again, determined to circumvent the aging process just as much, though in the opposite direction. And this time around I know to commit more doing than wishing.

The V-shaped washboard never did quite materialize, and the odds get slimmer as I perhaps don’t. Fortunately, swimming and running and stuff are fun for their own sake. No work ethic required.
