That today’s “Republicans” feel their neighbors are a menace and it’s okay to stand your ground and murder them if you are frightened. That American evangelical religion has become a distortion of its original purpose and excludes so many is dis-grace-ful. That fear and hate, have become acceptable tools of politicians, show how wrong our divisive political system has become.
The GQP still fights against unreasonable laws like background checks for violent or mentally unstable people. They fight against a 5 day waiting period because everybody knows with firearms you absolutely, positively have to have it overnight. They need 30+ round clips & bumpstocks because they can’t hit the broadside of a barn and still worry about the Red Chinese Army about to overrun the Canadian border. But they neglect to tell you that most of the gun laws proposed over the last half century (that’s over the last 50 years for you Rethuglicans and long time back – before the earth was flat, for you QAnon guys) originated from the (pre-Wayne LaPierre & his ILA crony bunch of thieves) NRA. I miss those days but I don’t miss what I shoot at so there’s that goin’ for me.
Gun control barely existed not that long ago. You could get a semi-automatic hunting rifle through the mail in 1968. We have more gun control laws on the books now than ever. Yet why are the mass shootings happening on a greater frequency? Maybe there are other factors at play? Not that the issue has been politicized and gotten FUBAR by the morons who love to do that to everything. /s
There may be a vaccine against COVID-19 but I doubt there will ever be one against the craziness which infects too many and makes them take up arms to shoot down fellow people.
The NRA’s comment about the CO shooting was just to say ""A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Indicating that it thinks the gunman was a well regulated militia, and that he was doing what was necessary to defend freedom…

Ouch.
“Going back to the way things were” is probably a recipe for unpleasantness, if not actual disaster.

republicans don’t want to upset their (VERY) base, “Those guys just want to shoot something, as long as it’s not us, we’re fine.”

Sadly, too true. Especially, when there is a duffus Police Captain in Georgia feeding the flames by taking the side of the murderer.

We’ll have gun control, when someone mows down a load of rich white guys, at an elite golf course.
Or stages an assault on the Capital Building…aww, that would never happen.

Not to worry Americans.. Your leaders are more than capable of ignoring more than one crisis at a time.
