Poor puppy, no wonder he barks. He should be in the house with his family, not all alone outside!

Record it & play it back for a whole week 24 hours a day, at high volume while you go out of town for a week.

If the dog’s owners won’t do anything, make friends with the dog and train him the way you want him to act. I’ve known people who have done just that, much to the consternation of their neighbours. :D

No bad dogs, only bad owners

You do not see calm and civilized in the comics very often since it is not very funny.

I haven’t read one comment during this barking dog arc. I wonder if the discussion has, only occasionally, become a tad contentious, lol.

I would never keep my dog outside they belong with their people.

If there is peep in my city, after 11 PM, by-law enforcement is on the way. After 2 AM it is the police doing by-law enforcement. There is a wall on the other side of the fence, around our condo, that is graffiti painted, wish they would catch those artist.

If their barking dog doesn’t bother the neighbors, I doubt the horn would.

Report the owners to the authorities. If you do it enough they will get a ticket and have to go to court and probably pay a fine and be found guilty of “Harboring a Barking Dog” ….yup. Guilty, me. :/

Those neighbors are cruel to leave their dog chained up outside. He should be inside with his people.

You’re supposed to call animal control about barking dogs. Of course, animal control is always closed at night…

I’ve experienced this before several times. Always amazed me that the barking dog wakes neighbors up blocks away, but the owners don’t seem to hear it right under their bedroom window.

time to call the Animal Control board and put in a complaint. Sometimes you have to force things.

Throw a couple of firecrackers out the door….he’ll shut up….fast!

Your neighbors are rude to you and cruel to their dog.

I have a hard time with the accusations of cruelty to the dog. Leaving a dog outside overnight is NOT cruel. Dogs are not people. I know we all tend to coddle our “fur babies”, but they really aren’t babies, they are animals. Just because these neighbors don’t coddle the dog does not make them cruel. Leaving it outside to bark all night, every night is however, insensitive and rude to the neighbors to say the least. (Having had a dog who could not be trained not to bark constantly, I can sympathize with the dog owner here.)

I would prefer my dogs not bark all night long, so they have the entire garage at night. My biggest issue is the hound dog that my grandson has just left here. He had parvo, week in the emergency hospital and $3000 USA later he survived. BUT, he keeps attacking one foot. I have asked the vet to check it out, they tell me he is just got a habit, I think that is the foot the IV was in and maybe a nerve has been hit. Anyway, he barks all the time, goes around in circles and has made a huge mess out of my backyard. What to do? I bought some cannine hemp and he gets some in the morning meal and some in the evening meal. He is doing so much better.

I have always had a rule about keeping a dog. I have never had one when 1) I didn’t have the time to train it and give it love and attention it needed and 2) had the land – either fenced yard or appropriate outdoor space to exercise it and for it to run around and play in.

Having an animal is like having a child. Both require lots of love, attention, structure, and discipline, a sense of security, a healthy diet, and a decent environment to grow up in. It’s hard work with kids and animals but the reward is worth it!

Note: Linguist did not say that he thinks animals are children.

If I was you , Phil, I would’ve over to the fence next door and told him.“Bonehead, if you keep on barking like that just one more time. I jumping over this fence and put my foot so far in your ass! Don’t try to bite me. I kick harder too.”

We have a rental house that backs up to the side of our property. One time these people moved in who had a two-year-old Husky. When they would leave, the dog was outside. He would get lonely and start to cry, meaning howl. We got so tired of it that we did call the police. They talked to the wife, who was a very nice lady. They were a young couple who were expecting their first kid. She came over to apologize, bringing the dog with her. I had our dogs out at the time and they all became instant best friends. Got to the point where we would dog-sit for them. I even brought him on several long hikes. Sadly, they had to move, and we have not seen them since. Go ahead and talk to your neighbor with the dog; you never know what will happen.
