Many years ago I shared a house with a woman who had a dog with a bell on it’s collar. The dog was nervous and hyper and drove everybody crazy. One day one of my friends had had enough and grabbed the dog and removed the bell. The dog walked over to a corner and laid down and was calm and friendly ever after.
I always think it funny that people “bell” their cats. Birds have no idea what that means, until it’s too late. All it does is advertise your cat’s presence to every aggressive cat in the neighborhood.
(I always wanted to draw a cartoon of a stalking cat with one paw holding his bell still.)
