Cathy: I lost three pounds right away and then hit a plateau, mom! Mom: Nonsense. Plateaus are for the young. Young bodies fling into the world of dieting...lose lots of weight fast...then screech to a halt toward the end when they realize what's going on. Older bodies KNOW what's going on and snap into metabolic lockdown almost immediately so weight loss barely has a chance to get out the door! Cathy: What?? Mom: You're not "plateau-ing" you're "front porch-ing".
