I barely knew about Gordie Howe, so I looked him up on Wikipedia. WHAT a stud. And I loved reading about “the Gordie Howe hat trick” where you get a goal, an assist and into a fight in one game.

Dennis Rodman was also like that. Very flamboyant and a high scorer, but also had 1600 assists and 11,954 rebounds in his career.

I remember Derek Sanderson in his autobiography describing Gordie Howe. He tried to loan a sport jacket to Howe, but his arms were too big to go in the sleeves.

Getting closer to the end of the regular season and the Carolina Hurricanes are doing very well. They are working hard and also look like they are having fun. What Coach Rod Brind’Amour has done in the past few years has been awesome.

Remembering that was accomplished on an expanded season

No. 9 was the first player in NHL history to score 50 goals in one season, accomplishing the feat in 50 games in 1944–45, and the first to reach 500 career goals. Richard retired in 1960 as the league’s all-time leader in goals with 544.

‘Saturdays and Sundays always get us up’…..

♪♪ Skating around without a cap and gown

Referees and linesman often show a frown…

♪♪ Funny but is seems that there were double 85’s

    Wearing linesman stripes

Funny but it seems that 85 got shoved out twice

    Out between the pipes…..♪♪

    …. with that double vision……

( Seriously, NHL Linesman 85 seemed to appear in both the Buffalo Sabres rink and the Detroit Redwings rink on April 17. 2021. Has this ever happened before? )

For my money, the greatest sports movie of all time was the 2004 film Miracle, starring Kurt Russell (no relation) as Herb Brooks. And I don’t even like hockey.

It was much easier scoring goals when the goalies didn’t wear masks. Howe and Gretzky are no big Taiwan Deal to me.

I was born and raised in the Era of the “Original 6”… I was in denial that any good player could come from any expansion team until Gretsky came to play with my beloved NY Rangers…I still do not agree that hockey belongs in states that never freeze over, if you cannot play the game outside on a pond frozen solid in January, you really don’t deserve an ice hockey team. When my 1st grandchild was born, I tried to convince my daughter to name her Avery Messier … yet another one of many times She ignored a request of mine.
