I do think it’s a serious mistake for people to move to Texas: On the evidence, being in Texas reduces your “morality quotient” by at least 60% and IQ by 10% or more.
From my perspective, this is nothing less than putting profit for some ahead of the lives of those who will die. But: Good on the retailers who plan to ignore the relaxation… though I do kind of wonder how that’s going to work out when an a-hole idjit decides to challenge them.
Come on, Texas, nobody is disputing your “worst governed state” championship. The energy fiasco was enough to lock in your victory. You don’t need to add this next health and safety blunder.
He’s sneaky. I’m thinking that he is trying to cover up the surge of COVID cases that will be caused by people having to huddle in crowds of non-relatives in an effort to keep warm. He can shift the blame to the people who don’t mask. I’m a Texas Democrat and disgusted with the incompetent and greedy people who don’t represent me.
I once subscribed to a Texas newspaper because they ran a column by Molly Ivins. I miss reading things like “I dearly love the state of Texas, but I consider that a harmless perversion on my part, and discuss it only with consenting adults.”
Trump style sleight of hand diversion from massive energy failure. Abbott appointed the directors of the oversight utility commission that crushed the enforcement leverage of the electric reliability administrators. Too many fingers were beginning to point to him for the catastrophe.
Well, Texas it’s been educational watching you as the representative entity of deregulation and free enterprise. But I wouldn’t want to hang around as the reality hits the fan. It’s going to make Somalia look like a first world success. Gonna be tough on the kiddies though. Who’s going to bury the last covid victim?
I think Gov. Abbott looks more convincing wearing the ten gallon cowboy hat resting on his ears when opening up Texas 100% during the pandemic. Spring break will be great in Texas . . . spread the word and the virus. . . . . /S
I’m 81 and I just can’t comprehend the level of stupid loose in Texas now.The town where I live has a very small percentage of Hispanics and Blacks. We used to have voting polls all over town. Now we have to go to the court house to vote.We have had very little vaccine. So the county health department claims to start vaccinating on a large scale. My pharmacy’s phone message says they are out of vaccine and don’t expect anymore.A friend with a disabled son got him on the county list. She was called and given an appointment, 60 miles away and she had to wait 6 hours.I have been ranting in other comment sections.
I emailed Abbott and told him he is a disgrace. Got a thank you reply for my note. Ted Cruz hasn’t responded to any of my emails. Cornyn has his staff write one note to everyone who supports anything he does, and another note explaining why he does what he does to everyone he pisses off. There is no representation.

Abbott is following Trump’s example. Just tell the voters you have accomplished something that you haven’t, and the clueless will believe you.

Interesting experiment. In a couple weeks we should see the numbers. Hospitalizations and deaths are hard to hide.

Yeah. Texas prevailed over: Reason, Science, Logic and, oh right, the average Citizen who likes to live without Covid.

This should work as well for Texans as utility deregulation did.
