Dr. Seuss Enterprises is the entity that decided to quit printing these books, which is their own prerogative… nobody is taking away copies that people already bought, and nobody is shaming people for buying those books… but elephants still claim it is liberal “cancel culture” at work…

Find a copy of “Dr.Seuss Goes to War” over 400 political cartoons at the beginning of WWII "… that denounced Hitler and Mussolini … cartoons that deplored the racism at home against Jews and Blacks, that harmed the war effort. Private SNAFU Army training films. Easy to go after someone who passed 30 years ago.

I’d like to see the offending images to judge for myself, but apparently they’re too horrid to see. It does seem to me that people nowadays rather overreact to political-incorrectness, say declaring some celebrity an un-person because of being rumored to have once in an argument called someone a c*ck-s*cker. (Which is doubly mystifying, because I didn’t realize that c*ck-s*ckers were a “protected class”.)

If you want to show your kids unkind racial stereotypes, I’m pretty sure you can do that without Dr. Seuss.

Early Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel) was extremely racist. Of course, if he’s racist the way you are, then it’s not racism.

Is it okay with the Republicans that the reading of “Green Eggs and Ham” by Ted Cruz is in the Congressional Record ? Will he read “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and say it was part of the War on Christmas before the next mid-term elections ? . . . /S

I was surprised by the Dr. Seuss announcement and a bit puzzled. I hadn’t read all the books identified but can still quote favorite passages from some that I treasured. I do remember being uncomfortable by a couple of the illustrations mentioned - they seemed out-of-step with the focus of the books. ‘Mulberry Street’ was about all the different wonders of the world that can be seen and experienced when one dares to go beyond the neighborhood. A wonderful, positive message for kids-all kids. I do remember thinking that the Asian figure seemed ‘old-fashioned’ (it was drawn in 1937) and not as pleasing as most of his drawings—and not really in keeping with the theme of the poem. If I still had my copy, I would reread it to see if I had missed something in the words.

1 day ago · The controversy over Dr. Seuss Enterprises deciding to pull six Dr. Seuss books from print due to the company determining that some of the racial stereotypes used in the books depict “people in ways that are hurtful and wrong” has led to the six books skyrocketing on the secondary market.. Dr. Seuss Enterprises was founded in 1993 by Audrey Geisel, the widow of Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, to … The “radical left” didn’t have a damn thing to do with it.

Suddenly, very suddenly Dr.Seuss Enterprises decides to stop publishing certain booksclaiming they have harmful commentary! A lot of years ago, that entity never evenconsidered any issues. Why?
