Here, Amelia, have some wood glue. Maybe with time you can bond with your tree.

England’s Coventry Cathedral, which had been bombed during WWII, was later rebuilt as a symbol of peace.

In June of 1968, in one of their first public acts promoting peace, John Lennon and Yoko Ono planted a pair of acorns at the Cathedral.

The acorn became their signature symbol of the human hope for peace. They mailed pairs of acorns to various heads of state all over the world accompanied by letters calling for gestures of peace. Acorns appeared as motifs in Ono’s work ever after, including as the central symbol in her 2013 book Acorn.

John is gone and Yoko is 88 years old as of last month.

    They never stopped hoping.

I believe that one old Cathedral pre planned needing timber for rebuilding and planted a number of trees when they built the original Cathedral. Sorry, I don’t remember which one it was.

I thought Amelia’s dream home would be away from snug harbor. I suggest Nashville maybe…

I did some post-doc work at the University of Cambridge in the UK. At the time they were replacing the beams in what was basically “The Great Hall” with beams made from oak trees on campus that had been specifically planted for that purpose in the 1500s. There was a map of the grounds with “Here be the grove for the trees for the beams in the great Hall in the year of our Lord 1950 – 2000.” They planted acorns for the next set of trees to be harvested in 2500 or so,

If I’m not mistaken, the bird says “Yo,” the insect says “sup,” and the acorn goes “weee!” Love it!

So, what I want to know is what happened to the two acorns planted at the Cathedral? Did they grow into trees or not?
