It appears the common right-wing approach is to warn us of dreadful consequences that may or may not happen, instead of dealing with what is.
Remember when Obama was going to take all your guns in 2008? And then again in 2012? And the concentration camps he was building in Ohio? I know it’s true, I saw aerial photos on the internet.
Casting opposing interests as the enemy and fanning fear works to keep many people in line. The Republicans have worked it to a fine art in the past 40 years. Surprising, since it has been shown to work for millenia by religious leaders.
Welcome… “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” What ever happened to that belief that met so many future Americans?
Lisa’s way of admitting that The Former Guy’s immigration policies didn’t work either, since she shows the U.S. immigration system already overcome – before Biden’s policies have time to take effect…
‘Prepare for a surge’….of right wing BS about debt (have a good long look at the debt Trump left behind), bad immigrants, job stealing immigrants, public health bad…private health good, unions bad, wage increases bad, tax cuts for the wealthy good, fossil fuel good….renewables unreliable AND bad. And on it goes. Forever and ever, amen.
There has in fact been something of a surge. Because the borders ARE not locked so tight, and we ARE back to allowing people to do the right thing… and rumors etc. run as rife south of the US/Mexican border as they do elsewhere, maybe even more.
Thanks Biden. Who gets hurt by this? People at the lower level of income because now they are competing against all these new aliens in search of work. It drives down the wages, but Dems don’t care. Just like the 11,000 that were left without a job that had been working on the XL pipeline.
And one of the core issues for the Republican base raises its head again: those damn (brown) immigrants. Must be agony having a president who isn’t a frothing racist.
I wish the left were consistent on this issue. When Obama was in in office his administration had completed over 700 miles of boarder wall under the secure fence act of 2006. President Trump added another 450 miles by December 2020. Obama’s wall was okay, but Trumps wall is not according to the left. What’s the thinking other than divisive hypocritical politics. Obama built the cages for kids and started the separation of adults from children. Obama was interviewed by Stephanopoulis and confirmed this. He warned illegals from bringing their children across the border. President Trump discontinued the kids in cages in his first thirty days of his administration. Yet the left wing media continued to use Obama era photos of caged kids to harangue Trump throughout his administration. Same for the left wingers here in continuing that disinformation. Now Biden has opened up the cages again and there is NOTHING from the left except lame excuses.

Well, we have room for 500,000 more people. Thank you, Mr. Trump.

I’m expecting a surge, but not from/of immigrants. It’s spring Break season and trump speech season in FLa, both are known super spreaders.

Why do Republicans hate the people who pick the food that’s on their table SO MUCH?
Frankfreak about 3 years ago
Ignatz, THEY do not want to have to pay them or provide benefits.
