1 – Tomorrow, April 15th, the Nation launches its Security Loan campaign. As your President, I ask each of you to back the Security Loan to the limit by buying extra savings bonds, by signing up for the Payroll Savings plan where you work or the Bond-a-Month plan where you bank, and by volunteering to help sell bonds to others.

This is the most important campaign for United States savings bonds we have had since 1945. It calls for everything we can put into it. It calls for volunteer work in every community, freely and patriotically given. It requires enough volunteers to talk to every American where he works or where he lives. The experience of all the war loan drives has proved that if Americans who can buy bonds are asked personally to buy them, and told the personal and national reasons for buying them, the goal will be reached.

    - President Harry S. Truman, radio address on April 14, 1948

And once again, great comics with great expressions, great body language, all portrayed by great artwork with great perspective and great details and great three dimensional depths. It takes a great cartoonist to make a great cartoon. The great BOZO by the great Foxo.

    1) Bozo knows a sure bet when he sees one. 2) It’s a good thing he likes what she packed. 3) Trying to catch a can of sardines perhaps?

Since “Bozo” was launched in March, I have made an appeal in these comments a few times to those who follow Bozo but who do not subscribe to please do so. Those appeals usually adds one or two new subscribers, but that is well worth it because each follower, whoever he/she is, wherever they live, is important and greatly appreciated. Subscribing to GoComics is one of those few “everything to gain and nothing to lose” situations in life. It is easy to do and is free, and Bozo and any other comics you choose, will automatically be placed in your inbox every morning. Thank you.

The cop beams with pride, as a single raindrop the size of a goldfish aims at Fuzzy’s umbrella, symbolizing how the bonds will shelter Bozo’s money.

    1) Series E bonds were popular in the ’40s and sold at 75% of face value and paid the greater of market rate or 4% interest for 10 years and could be redeemed for face value at maturity in 10 years. E bonds purchased between May 1941 and November 1965 earned interest for 40 years and had three 10-year extended maturity periods. Also called “Baby Bonds”, I had one whose certificate was decorated with Walt Disney Characters.

    2) Was Bozo offered the whole basket of food or just something out of it? We’ll never know for sure.

By the way, that fence board seems a little out of place.

    3) Bozo seems to be missing part of the concept, and Umbrella Man isn’t doing much better as the rain is making him upset. Probably neither one of them will go home with fish tonight.

I don’t know why Bozo bought so many unless he planned to give several away. They sold in denominations up to $10,000, so there were a lot of options.

    1) Don’t gamble, BUY BONDS. Bozo sees some street gambling then his better half shows him a sign. He goes in a purchases a huge stack of govt bonds instead.

    2) Lunch: He meets the beautiful lady and takes her lunch and goes somewhere to eat it! (Not very nice of him.)

    3) Fishing: Boy is walking along the trail. Bozo buys the entire can full of worms for a dollar. Then goes fishing using the entire can at once!
