For at least the past two generations, Republicans have depended on the Religious Right types, who make up a huge part of their base, to support them, and they have been very dependable, despite the fact that very few of them have enough money that they were not working against their own best interests. For them, it didn’t have anything to do with economics or social welfare, because they were brainwashed into believing that the Republicans believed in the Family Values agenda- anti-gay, anti-abortion, etc. Somehow they managed not to notice that once Republicans were elected, they completely ignored that agenda, or made it a trade-off for securing the goals of the 1%ers who were controlling the Republican party. In fact, they rarely mentioned those issues unless they were using them as a bargaining chip—- until the next time they needed volunteers and donations, when it again became their mantra. After at least 40 years, the Religious Right finally figured out that the Establishment Republicans were playing them for fools, so they voted against Establishment Republicans, and for an “outsider”, who probably reminded them of their favorite televangelist. They are continuing to prove they are fools by supporting that outsider, who has the Family Values credentials of an extremely active tomcat. It is amazing to see how many of these people who are, in their own minds at least, a moral shining light actually are able to overlook the fact that they are avidly supporting a person who has no morals at all.
I have followed Josh-Boy when he was running for State office in Missouri. He was elected because of the evangelical-Taliban vote in the State.
Fair warning, Josh-Boy is far more cunning and far more dangerous that trump ever was, or could be. He has no loyalty to democracy or the constitution, and, he will do whatever he has to to be elected President and then I doubt he will ever leave.
He thinks he can outlast the images of him urging on the insurrectionists and seditionists, and in this State, he can. It will be up to the rest of you to make sure he never reaches any office higher than the one he has.
Please forgive me for once again yet again trotting out my song parody of “Josh Hawley Sings”………but he KEEPS being dishonest and cowardly and treasonous! And here we go:
When I was a punk, folk had no doubt
I’d commit treason with my trademark pout
I did my level best to prove them right
When I told a mob of traitors to go out and fight
(When he told a mob of traitors to go out and fight)
And though the Biggest Lie was nothing but a ruse
They revolted just for me (also Trump and Cruz)
(And thought the Biggest Lie was nothing but a ruse
They revolted just for him (also Trump and Cruz)
Because I’m never modest my own horn I’ll toot
I gave that mob of traitors my own Fascist salute
And when the mob rampaged I quaked with fear
With a certain brownish discharge coming from my rear
(With a certain brownish discharge coming from his rear!)
But in the aftermath I voted straight and true
To acquit my fellow traitor, Donald You Know Who
(But in the aftermath he voted straight and true
To acquit his fellow traitor Donald You Know Who!)

I wonder if the Hawleys have been in Missouri since the ACW. I’d bet his ancestors robbed, pillaged and burned Kansas settlers.
