Don Jr. said he didn’t blame Cancun Ted for going on vacation because Texas has an inept Democratic governor. Well, Jr. was half right. Our esteemed Governor, one Greg Abbot (R-TX) came out of the woodwork long enough to thank President Biden for declaring Texas a disaster area. No thanks yet for Beto O’Roark and Alexandria Ortega-Cortez.It was reported that Cancun Ted said that there was nothing for a Senator to do. It was the governors job to do stuff.
When you choose the public life, you’re going to get scrutinized – sometimes harshly and maybe unfairly. (Don’t read that as me defending these two.) Both of these guys have been around long enough that they should know that.
In my opinion, 2021 HAS been a better year. We’re making progress on fighting the pandemic, and we don’t have a POTUS who embarrasses us and purposely stirs up controversy every day. (Don’t read that as me claiming that Biden is perfect, but I do perceive him as being more presidential than The Former Guy.)
Depends on your outlook. When Mr. Trump is found guilty of mail fraud, tax fraud, witness tampering, inciting a revolution, and campaign-fund fraud, it’s not going to be a good year for him. For me…..the other end of the spectrum.
Something to keep in mind is that both Newsom and Cuomo were/are working long days 7 days a week dealing with rapidly-evolving crises, plus trying to do their regular jobs insofar as possible. In short, they’re doing a lot and they have to do it fast. They have made mistakes and will continue to do so. I do not think either can be accused of not caring or shirking. Their mistakes shouldn’t be overlooked, but neither should they be treated as deliberate. If either of these people are replaced by Trumpublicans, who don’t give a rat’s patootie about anyone but themselves and holding on to power, do you think they would do a better job? Do you think even a well-intentioned Republican replacement (if such a thing exists) would hit the ground running? We would lose everything Newsom and Cuomo have learned and and will be cutting off our own noses to spite our own faces.
We won’t have a nice neat number for years, and when we do it, it won’t be right. Do we count those people who already had one foot in the grave, and one covid germ pushed them over? Do we count the person who caught it at work, but died in the nursing home, or the hospital, or at home, or on the subway? It isn’t that neat to decide that kind of thing, and the specifics as to where it was caught and where it proved fatal are really pretty irrelevant to the person who wound up dead.

We all did, but it’s going to take a while for it to kick in. Gotta shovel a LOT of DT’s crap outta the way first.

We have a Dem president who is taking care of the covid response, the other guy had no plan at all.

Like a hangover.. the effects of COVID are going to last a long time. And the republicans trying to shift the blame are not helping.

Wow. Apparently Democratic governors have problems.

One-party rule is not a whole lot better in CA or NY than it is in Texas, but Texans still show how low you can go.

Cuomo made his mistakes early on, when much about Covid was unknown. Then he learned from his mistakes.
Trump made his mistakes throughout the pandemic, then ignored them by insisting they weren’t real.
