You are both right, Kurtass and LookingGlass, his base would unquestionably still vote for him. It’s actually sort of a USA tradition. Ever hear of “Yellow dog Democrats”? They called themselves that, they were proud of the name. Democrats who would vote for a yellow dog, if it ran on the Democratic ticket. They were around for 80 years or more. Every Senator, Representative, Governor in the states of the old Confederacy (and the great majority in some of the non-seceding southern states like Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland) were Democrats. It didn’t matter what sort of “A lynching a week keeps the ______ meek.” filth those Democrats were, the Yellow Dogs elected them. (for the ______ space in that, insert whatever you regard as the most disgustingly vile and foul of racist names). The white hood sheet wearers? The gigantic majority of them were Democrats….and the progressive, liberal wing of the Democratic party never objected to what their yellow dog fellow Democrats did, so long as the dogs helped them elect Presidents, and voted for some of the things the progressives wanted. I always wonder how the progressive liberals of that era managed to avoid dying from starvation from what must have been constant nausea at what they were doing. Many commentators here say that the Republican party does not deserve to continue to exist. I agree. Where I depart from those commentators is that I believe the record of the Democratic party is at least as much a stench as that of the Republicans. I think both parties need to be stepped like the poisonous insects they are. The Populist party once made a decent run at being a viable alternative…let’s try something like them again.
There is plenty of work that needs to be done by the current President and Congress. There are 5 special elections in the House in 2021 and the entire House and 34 seats in the Senate will be on the ballot in 2022. This is after re-districting that will be done after the census is complete; hopefully gerrymandering will be fought and controlled. Plus there are lots of state and local elections. Why should anyone be talking about 2024?
Personally I’m hoping that Trump will not be able to run because of all of his legal and civil court cases. But the U.S. citizens need to hold our representatives accountable for doing their jobs TODAY and stop the endless election cycle.
2022 is my big date. Dems must turn history upside down and ADD more seats in Congress during the midterms. Without it, the nation will suffer. Forget ‘24, we’ve got real trouble much sooner.

Other old timers will remember TV advertising for “Soap On A Rope”. If Iran got ahold of Trump they’d be showing us “Dope On A Rope” for revenge of the murder of their beloved General that Trump wanted for a photo-op on the staged news broadcast.

The former guy is taking names, compiling lists of those who won’t kiss his posterior, and planning campaigns against them the next time they run.
