Similarly to UM, the Hawaiian campus of Brigham Young University (previously known as Church College of Hawaiʻi until the name change in 1974) was founded in 1955, four years before the Hawaiian islands’ 1959 statehood. BYUH is famous for operating the Polynesian Cultural Center.
I wish I had a nickel for every joke I’ve forgotten! Here’s one I remember. It’s a true story! My father and my grandfather were returning from a fishing trip which involved more drinking than fishing as usual. As they rounded a turn on this narrow country road, a old farmer pulled out of his farm entrance in his old run down Model T right in front of my grandfather and he couldn’t avoid hitting him! After examining the damage my grandfather who went by the nickname “Shady” said “well Jack (my father) it doesn’t look like we’re hurt that bad”! The farmer said “Well you might not be hurt bad but, you’ve ruint me”! To which Shady responded “It looks to me like you was ruint afore you started!” At that point three of the farmer’s big strapping sons piled out of the old raggedy Ford! Jack looked at Shady and without saying another word , they jumped in their car and beat a hasty retreat! I’m going to do the same thing now!
The University of Minnesota USED TO be the University of Winnebago. When they changed their name, they kept the school colors, and simply turned the logo upside down. BELIEVE IT, OR DON’T!
I used to work for an electronics company as an assembler. We built intricate power supplies for the US Military. The Boss came by one day and praised my wiring work. “Not bad for someone who’s color blind, Boss”, I said. I was kidding him, but the look on his face was priceless.

Although it has always been a private school, Santa Clara University was founded in 1820, 30 years before California statehood.

That explains a number of people in my nephew’s coloring book.
“OMG” was first used in the stone age. I saw it myself in the film “One Million Years B.C.” when Raquel Welch came on camera.
My great Aunt Effie, University Minnesota Class of 1951, just finished paying off her student loan.

“Color Blind” – Well, that explains a lot about how Crayola chose the color for “Flesh”…

But did the Admiral’s “OMG” have the same meaning it does today?
