Goodness gracious. Did Elizabeth actually get Michael to do a chore? Hey, Elly and John! Are you taking notes? Someone in the house finally knows how to motivate Michael to do work without yelling at him.

Never argue with the person who cooks your food.

Sounds like Elizabeth is familiar with the story of The Little Red Hen.

Through the years I’ve observed that many men seem to behave the worst toward the person who prepares their food. It’s a wonder to me that more of them didn’t succumb to “food poisoning”.

Let that be a lesson to you Michael. Carry it over into your marriage.

And yet women are the ones who never stop saying “I have the right to wear whatever I want” – no matter how inappropriate their choices might be to context or reason.

people don’t appreciate cooks enough whether it is your mother, wife, or even a restaurant chef they are still the ones putting food on your plate, so next time they cook for you, say thanks!

It’s faster and easier to set the table and empty the dishwasher. I would rather do that any day than cook. And yet, most days, I do all of it. Plus clean up!

A lesson you can’t learn too early… don’t mess with the cook.

Not exactly what history has shown, you little brat. If it were true, kitchen slaves could have liberated themselves just by poisoning the king/general/master.

Michael has a more serious issue in panel one. His eyes and nose are so far away from his mouth they are practically in his forehead!

When I was in high school, I cooked supper nearly every night for our family of 9 kids and 2 adults. (It was my choice – after doing that and washing the dishes, I was free for the evening to do whatever I wanted). The younger siblings were responsible for setting the table. Most of the time they did pretty well, but if they dawdled and didn’t get it done, I would just go into the living room and announce that the food was cooked and was waiting over low heat on the stove. If the table wasn’t set before the food burned, so be it. That got everybody into action, and they motivated each other to get it done!

Good lesson learnt early in life, has it’s own pros.
