They should rot in jail for attacking the government and attempting to hang the Vice President and take members of Congress captive.

More importantly, the former president* and members of Congress who aided and abetted the criminal rioters should also rot in jail!

Now think about them storming a R majority congress or senate. If those folks carry out an insurrection against your tribe and it succeeds are you saying “Yeah. I’m good with the election turning out this way.”?

I recall that you are ok with death and putting down the rule of law when it benefits you but not so much when you have to answer for your own actions.

Stop trying to excuse the 1/6 domestic terror attack by pointing to the protests over police violence last year. They aren’t the same. for one, Democrats immediately denounced any violence that happened.

The right wing media tried to blame the left for the events of 1/6, after they spent the summer replaying any riot footage they could get their hands on to blame the left for the violence during the George Floyd protests, when in reality far right groups were responsible:

the Trump supporters who broke into the Capitol building on 1/6 are guilty. They documented their own crimes on facebook and twitter.

Of course, that several times they found alt-rights were starting the rioting and looting instead of the BLM folks doesn’t matter… that in the cases where BLM rioters did attack government buildings, Democrats did not demand that those arrested be forgiven doesn’t matter… that the Trump Patriots attacked the Capitol Building, disrupting a Constitutional process while threatening the lives of our highest elected leaders (including Republicans) doesn’t matter… and that Democrats do not say that all Trump supporters are guilty nor say that all Trump supporters are guilty by association and should be jailed doesn’t matter… the ONLY thing that matters to Trumpers is to keep the lies and exaggerations flowing to keep the public as divided as possible.

Really? When did the BLM people ever attack the capital of the United States? Oh, that’s right, they didn’t. Fact is, if they had, they would have been slaughtered. White domestic terrorists get preferential treatment in this country.

If you are equating the BLM protest with an attempt to overturn a legal election, the you are a scoundrel and no patriot.

I’ll try to make it easier for you little Bobby, the vast majority of the BLM protesters were peaceful, the right wing infiltrators were not, since their goal was to start as much trouble as possible in order to make the BLM protestors look bad. None of those who invaded the Capitol were “peaceful”, especially when they were saying that they wanted to shoot Pence, Pelosi and others. Breaking and entering and attacking police IS NOT“peaceful protest”.

Trump signed in a law that anyone breaking and entering a Federal building was subject to 10 years in prison.

The left fights for human rights, the right fights for a dictatorship.

I don’t remember anyone ever saying that rioting and looting should be forgiven.

The peaceful protesters who gathered near the White House and marched to the barriers of the US Capitol were exercising their 1st Amendment rights, peacefully. When they crashed the barricades, attacked the police, broke windows and forced their way in, rioted in the building, stole personal and federal property….THEN…they broke the laws and need to be identified, tracked down, prosecuted and punished. Re…same scenario for liberal or progressives…march & speak all you want, as soon as you riot or attack police or your opponents…then law & order should prevail. Gorrell is twit.

In my state a small group of protesters splashed paint on a prosecutor’s office and broke some windows. I firmly believed they deserved to be arrested and convicted. However, initially they were charged with felony criminal mischief that carries a gang enhancement and could result in life in prison. While they deserved to face legal consequences, after public outcry the charges were reduced. I don’t believe the Capitol rioters deserve life in prison, but they cause damage OUTSIDE the Capitol, they broke INTO the capitol, police officers were seriously injured and people DIED! Using “But they did it to…” to justify bad behavior, especially when one damages property and the other results in injury and death is keeping the huge divide between the extreme right and the extreme left alive and well.
