Why are we still needing separate months for black history, women’s history, etc.? 30 years ago when i studied history in university they were working on incorporating more of the people’s history into the courses I took instead of focusing on wars and rulers. It bothers me that we haven’t made more progress in 30 years towards history, that incorporates all groups within the culture. People from all cultures, genders, skin colours, etc. have contributed towards creating the modern world and that should, after this much time, be properly reflected in the history being taught in school. My generation who were exposed to this more modern way of thinking should have improved the education that our children and grandchildren are receiving today. Until we fix the problems we need reminders of what groups, whom history has treated as peripheral to society, have actually contributed, but I had hoped that a more inclusive history curriculum would exist by now.

Who’d say no to a pupusa? Someone that’s anti-immigration.

Definition of shero: a woman regarded as a hero. Recent Examples on the Web Kelly Wilkinson/IndyStar Moms belong this league of sheros.

That’s why I loved World history—it had a much more cultural bent than American history which focused on politics and battles.
