I knew the right-wing cartoonists were going to regurgitate the BS that the Republican politicians and Faux News pushed that Green energy was to blame for the power outages in Texas. Their heads would explode if they bothered to look for the truth. So, let’s start with the facts:

88% of electric power in Texas is provided by natural gas and coal power; 7% by wind. The remainder by solar or nuclear. As this article in the Texas Tribune succinctly puts it: “Texas is a gas state…”

Summers would much rather lie than admit that the minimal impact of the wind turbines freezing was in fact because they were not properly winterized by cheap idiots .

A good part of Texas’ power problems comes from a miniature version of “America first”. In their arrogance about energy capabilities, they set their grids up to be independent of the rest of the country. Now, in desperate need, they cannot bring in energy from other states even if they want to – and I suspect they want to. So much for rugged individualism.

AOC rips into Texas governor for blaming storm outages on the Green New Deal, saying his ‘failed leadership’ is the true ‘deadly deal’ (businessinsider.com)

Abbott went on Hannity and blamed the Green New Deal for the grid problems in Texas. Think about how fundamentally dumb and dissonant that argument is. The Green Deal does not exist yet other than being a broad policy proposal. And now think about how dumb one has to be to believe that argument. To blame a hypothetical proposal for real life problems that are happening now. The repug idiots will literally believe anything.

    1)Texas has privatized grids.

    2)Wind turbines work in Antarctica

3)The Green new deal isn’t just wind turbines

4)Texas has had republicans in power for nearly 20 years continuously. Any deal implemented was implemented BY REPUBLICANS.

Even the idiots are bigger in Texas.

It’s amazing how Republicans try to pass themselves off as the party of personal responsibility, yet they continually try to blame others when they screw up.

It’s true; the Green New Deal is responsible for the power failures even though it won’t go into effect until next year.

(We Republicans don’t DO cause and effect.)

The pictures of frozen windmills shown on FOX ‘news’ by Tucker Carlson were stock footage from a few years ago in another state.

Boy howdy, Dana, you sure set yourself up for deserved ridicule with this one. Professional Tip: if the right wing says something is so, take at least a few seconds to google and find out what counter-arguments exist.

If you’d done that, and chosen to abandon your faith commitment that anything not-conservative is by definition always incorrect, even YOU would have soon realized that all the blame heaped on green energy machinery for the Texas power outage was not warranted. If you’d just done that minuscule bit of fact-checking, even YOU would have never wasted the time and effort it took to draw this POS toon. Well, I hope you’re actually capable enough, had you done some checking, to have come to that conclusion.

It is carbon based power sources and inadequate transmission capacity which is the culprit here. The windmills built in Texas were not designed for operation in freezing/ice-snow temps to save money — how’d that work out, Cheapskate Capitalism?!

And even if the windmills there could operate in the weather conditions Texas has experienced in the past week, the way windmills in other states experiencing the same weather now and all winter long every winter are able to operate FULL TIME without outages, the privatized energy transmission lines are too old and inadequate to function in THIS extreme event, the same way they will be too old and inadequate to function in looming AGW climate change harsh weather events of similar extremes occurring at a constantly increasing rate of frequency.

The traditional conservative mindset, for millennia always about a century or so behind current times, is simply not nimble enough to keep up with current and, especially, even more rapid future planetary change. Your kind has to find a way to kick things up about twenty gears, maybe more.

If you need a politician to tell you how to buy and install and maintain a windmill, you’re not the right person for the job.
