The problem turns out to be that the natural gas pipes feeding the generators liquefied from the normal gaseous state, so the generators couldn’t be run. Thus the (rolling) blackouts. Of course a lot of the lines were down too. And of course Rick Perry (remember him?) announced that Texans would FAR rather suffer a few days of darkness than allow the Feds to interfere. And of course Abbot (governor) lied about the cause when being interviewed by the faux snooze, blaming “green power” for failing (some of the windmills did in fact fail. Some of them. Not enough to actually cause disruption at all, though).
“Let The Texans Freeze In The Dark” Soon to be seen bumper sticker on cars in Bosnywash
BTW, Texas does not share electricity with other states because they don’t want Federal regulation. Israel and Jordan connected their grids even before any sort of peace was made between them.
Texas would be dead in the water if they lost all the money that comes from the federal government. Army, Air Force , Homeland security, medical research, etc.
And yet, when Texas went into deep freeze, they called on the Biden administration for assistance. Here’s hoping Texas goes back on the federal grid, in case something like this happens again. Remember the old joke, “A Conservative is a Liberal who got mugged?” now the joke is, “A Liberal is a Conservative who needs a bailout”.
