TX-Gov: Beto O’Rourke (D), “We are nearing a failed state in Texas due to Republican leaders”

Former Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke blamed Republican leaders in Texas for what he says was a failure to prepare for widespread power outages resulting from a massive winter storm that swept across the state this week.

“So much of this was avoidable,” O’Rourke said during an appearance Tuesday on MSNBC. “Going back to the deregulation of our electric grid here in Texas, which has actually created an incentive to not weatherize or protect against these events.”

The onetime congressman from El Paso said Republicans who run the state are too busy worrying about “stupid” cultural issues like the debate over the national anthem before NBA games or efforts to make Texas a “sanctuary state” for companies and people fleeing states with more liberal policies on issues like guns and immigration.

So according to its backers, one of the great big benefits of gas is that it’s reliable. But it froze. Literally. Pipelines, valves, all the complicated machinery and instrumentation built to keep cool in Texas summers were suddenly iced out, while gas pressure fell in the pipes. Bloomberg reported frozen turbines were the “least significant factor,” accounting for just 13% of the blackouts as of Monday evening, so those who operate in good faith would know that it’s unfair to blame wind turbines after that point when so much more gas, coal, and nuclear power unexpectedly went offline. Those “thermal sources” account for more than two-thirds of the state’s power generation and accounted for 27 of the 34 gigawatts that went down, while wind actually exceeded the forecast.

We’re at that place in life where it doesn’t matter what anyone says…all that matters is what works and what doesn’t. The Texas infrastructure (kick the can down the road) update failure is the primary reason why everyone is freezing. While hot air coming from flapping politician lips, (trying to shift the blame) despite being an abundant and reliable source of energy, it’s not going to make a dent in the heating needs of Texans.

It is amusing to watch what passes for republicans, these days, trying to justify the actions of their elected leaders.

Turning on one of the high priests in the Cult of Personality that is now the Trumpian republican party is merely one step in its dissolution – there will be many, many others – remember the Whigs of the 1850s!

The electrical system in Texas was removed from the grid and privatized so a small group of republicans could make an obscene amount of money.

    Not true, Jeff.

After all, naturalized citizen Cruz wrote a letter in support of Gov. Abbott’s begging for socialist communist assistance from the socialist communist federal government.

    Because personal responsibility.

Speaking of Ted Cruz… six months ago this week, during a CA fire emergency:

California is now unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity.

Biden/Harris/AOC want to make CA’s failed energy policy the standard nationwide.

Hope you don’t like air conditioning! https://t.co/UkKBq9HkoK

You can thank Democrats and environmental extremists for the power outages. Those wind turbines don’t work when there’s no wind or they ice up. Another bad thing about icing is that the turbines tend to get unbalanced and literally tear themselves apart. They are unreliable, expensive and dangerous to maintain and environmentally destructive. The local wildlife abandoned the area where they are erected due to the sonic vibration and they are bird killers. Now, they are literally responsible for the deaths reported out of Texas due abnormal freezing conditions. There’s global warming for you.

“Lately”? What in God’s name could that idiot be referring to. Cruz has NEVER, EVER done anything or anyone. His mantra is “Wait for me! I’m your leader!” If ever there was a butt boy masquerading as a U.S. senator, it’s Cruz. Certainly there are many, many GOP Leadershit U.S. senators who rival Cruz for his obsequiousness, but none is quite as prompt, quite as coöperative, quite as subservient, or quite as grateful. He his the GOP Leadershit’s go-to catamite.
