Actually, the lawyers for the defense said the equivalent of “I got nothing” – the so-called “republicans” in the Senate basically acquitted Donnie John on a technicality. They said Trump couldn’t be convicted because he was no longer a sitting president, and, of course Moscow Mitch refused to conduct the trial until after he left office. Please note that neither his lawyers nor the “republicans” sitting as jury seemed to address his guilt or innocence of the charges leveled against Trump. The lawyers seemed to be third graders in that they kept making false equivalences and comparing the seditious attack on our capitol with the “Black Lives Matter” protests of last summer – there was absolutely no equivalence there at all!
The “yeah, but” defense stopped working when my boys started grade school, and it was embarrassing to hear it used on the floor of the Senate by supposedly intelligent, grown men -although it did fit Trump, now that I think of it. .
That same Trump attorney went home to find somebody painted “TRAITOR” in front of his house ! I’m thinking that was an exercise in FREE SPEECH . . . .Trump style.

Yep, none of that matters when they choose to ignore the facts.

The lawyers could have said “I got nothing” and they still would have acquitted. What a waste of time.

Moscow Mitch LIED, as Trump Disciples always do: He said the ONLY reason to convict was removal from office.
He went on to say that since Trump was already out of office, there was no reason to consider the case itself, and he did not.
.
Trump Disciples are always proud of their lies. Maybe even as much as their racism.
