Orthodontics has come a long way since I had my braces in the late 60s. Back then it was common to have teeth removed before the braces were put on. In my case all four of my first premolars. I had to go to my regular dentist to have them removed. I drank a lot of milk when I was young giving me a very dense jaw bone. One tooth presented quite a challenge to my dentist. So much so that in order to gain enough purchase to remove the tooth he put his knee on the arm of the chair. Now some might think that this would be cause for concern, but my thought at the time was
