The freeze was easy to see coming, said Jay Apt, co-director of the Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center. “When I read that this was a black-swan event, I just have to wonder whether the folks who are saying that have been in this business long enough that they forgot everything, or just came into it,” Apt said. “People need to recognize that this sort of weather is pretty common.”
I’ve been a Houston NFL fan since the days of the Bum Phillips “Luv Ya Blue!” Oilers and a Texans fan from day one. Losing both DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt in the span of a year ranks up there on the pain scale with the Oilers’ playoff collapse against Buffalo in ‘93. Having said that, I can’t be upset with either player. Considering how badly Cal McNair has handled personnel decisions, it’s just as well that J.J. and DeAndre are gone. My hope is that they both get the opportunity to get a ring.
