I’m torn. But mostly I’m hoping that it’s quick and that another dozen Senators regain their sense of shame.

What she is saying is true. However the twice impeached treasonous former president made both of the those things worse. And the he incited a riot.

Does this mean we all could commit crimes and get away with them because we are too busy with the pandemic?

Speaking from the Trumpian point of view, it’s a good thing that all the Senate republicans are in total thrall to Donnie John because his lawyers couldn’t get a ham sandwich pardoned at a bar mitzvah.

Sorry folks, but the attempted overthrow of your democracy by an Orange madman, who would have brought untold death and destruction if he succeeded, needs to be addressed NOW! Especially since most Americans have the attention span of a squirrel on Adderall.

Fewer would be dying if Trump had faced the pandemic honestly! Impeachment isn’t enough! Jail time would be even more appropriate!

It is necessary because Trump made it necessary. He called an army to DC. They all assert that they invaded the capitol on his orders. He says, “I didn’t directly tell them to do it,” but they all said they were obeying their president and would do it again. And THAT is why this is necessary — because they would do it again. The constitution makes provision for making politicians ineligible from ever holding public office again, and that is essential if we are to survive as a nation.

And the person bearing majority responsible for thousands dying daily and the millions unemployed is …………………………….

and who exactly said the virus was going away, was responsible for not ordering enough vaccine, or plan properly for its distribution, then set a mob upon the congress?

An attack on our country cannot be ignored.

The Trump defense team didn’t exactly bring to mind the skill of Perry Mason.

It was more like that of often befuddled Hamilton Burger.

The GOP Senators shied away from looking at the violence in the videos of the Capitol insurrection, AKA Trump’s Revolt. I guess they didn’t want to look at the people who elected them.

Our current national embarrassment has abandoned his followers for the most part. He has sent no lawyers to defend arrestees. He has not defended their actions. He has not contributed any of his millions in political contributions to their defense fund.

He has hung them out to dry in his typical cowardly fashion. Same way he dodged selective service, avoided paying his debts or providing any proof whatsoever of election fraud – except of course that he actually ran for a second election – a fraud in itself.

And, while the senate trial might not convict him, I agree with SHOD above that the D.C. police should be able to arrest him for inciting a riot among armed belligerents that lead to destruction of government property.

And, if history of government purchases is accurate, and they sentenced him to repay the damages at the price levels the government usually overpays for anything, he’ll be flat broke in a month. Just desserts.

What you choose to ignore or accept becomes your standard.

And on whose watch did these catastrophic events occur? Does anyone remember “I take no responsibility”? I would go along with taking no responsibility if and only if we can be sure he will never assume any public office of responsibility ever again. (What he does to his own private businesses and employees doesn’t bother me over much. By now, they should be aware of who and what they’re signing up for.)

It’s no secret the middle has been a hard place to get to lately.

The Republican Trump admin spread covid. Where are the trials for knowingly spreading a deadly disease? We need to demand reparations from the republicans for not following science and destroying our country.

This demonstrates another weakness in our Constitution that did not take into account the deep partisanship that overrides loyalty to our country [in favor of party], common sense, unvarnished truth, and unbiased justice.

I’m hoping that the conviction portion of the trial will be short and that there will be at least 17 Repubs with a working conscience.

Accountability.

The trump sheep(Republican Senate) Will listen to the facts of the proceedings, yawn and vote to acquit! This will backfire on them as many voters will remember this when election time comes around, remember more voted for Biden than trump and their decision to acquit, will still be remembered, I will never vote for another Republican!

The pandemic and economic disaster was pure unadulterated Trump. Everything he touches dies!

I needed a new source of TV entertainment since I’ve since every single show on Netflix worth watching. Impeachment has everything I like in a show: Drama and murder (the attack on the Capitol) combined with comedy (Trump’s lawyers)

Those in the Republican congress are happy because the capital is an armed camp and the pesky voters cain`t get to se them in person when they have a problem.

It’s not that difficult to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Of course, that hundreds of thousands died during Trump’s watch because of his weak and chaotic response to the pandemic, has no bearing on Trump being so “unfairly treated”…

Thousands dying and millions unemployed. Ummm….that didn’t just happen but has been ongoing for months. Failed misdirection.
