    Bike Mowers

I thought the first animal to orbit the earth was a person.

One time I saw an owl with four eyelids.

May the Lord be with you.

Was Laika able to make it back to see the other James Dean movies?

Dean only starred in three movies: East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant.

East of Eden was the only movie released before his death (September 30, 1955).

Deixa-nos saber, senhor Bowers, quando você encontra ágatas que parecem-se o Pássaro Grande.

Hey! I brought up the Cookie Monster geode a few strips ago! I’d really like to think Graziano reads the comments, but it was a fairly big story online anyway.

The bigger story is that there was an owl on a stick coming out of James Dean’s head.

Owls have three sets of eyelids, and as we learned last week in RBION, they have eye cones that don’t move (tunnel vision) rather than eyeballs that can move, which is why they have to twist their head around to see in different directions. Too bad they weren’t in the same BION.

Robert Francis, Ensign Willie Keith in the Caine Mutiny, had a similar fate as James Dean except he liked small airplanes.

My “Joke du Jour” goes like this. The Husband is leaving the house for an extended business trip and, as he approaches the door having kissed the wife goodbye, the phone in the hallway rings. He picks it up, says " hello, huh? How the hell should I know, call the Coast Guard!"His wife says “Who was that, Honey?” He says “I don’t know…some fool asked me if the coast was clear!”So long Joe’s gonna leave ya now!

    > ..Laika became an international celebrity. The satellite and its passenger soon acquired the journalistic nickname of “Muttnik.” Contemporaneous Soviet accounts implied that the dog was kept alive for six or seven days into the mission and then euthanized with poisoned food before her oxygen supply could run out. The satellite was destroyed reentering Earth’s atmosphere on April 14, 1958. Laika’s sad fate aroused worldwide concern and sympathy.

The Russians had not yet developed the technology to come safely back down when they launched Laika in Sputnik 2, so they knew it was a one way trip. She reached orbit alive, but by the fourth orbit, the heat shielding was found to be insufficient, and she died from overheating. Five months later, after 2,570 orbits, Sputnik 2 — including Laika’s remains — disintegrated during re-entry on 14 April 1958.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika

The agate rock that looked just like PeeWee Herman didn’t get near the attention that the one resembling Cookie Monster did.
