Stupid Henry Payne seems to feel that for profit schools are willing to overlook health and safety in pursuit of profits.

My former private (Catholic) high school ($3,500/yr +) has been forced to close four times since opening in OCT!! Something about this COVID thingy!! And it’s not just the students, who are supposed to wear masks at all times while on school grounds! OFF the grounds … well, not so much!!

Public schools don’t have the funds to properly equip the classrooms with the necessary items needed for proper sanitation. Public school classes are almost always overcrowded, so social distancing is impossible. How can the kids be fed properly and safely?

The private school in my region are open and not resulting in mass illnesses and deaths. In fact, they’ve demonstrated that with safety protocols and some common sense, it’s quite safe. One of my daughter’s teachers (and friend of the family) from back in the day is still teaching and is 63. She’s quite healthy and happy to be in the classroom. There are a couple of teachers in her school that are her age or older with health issues. They are not in the classroom. Common sense and precaution.

Too bad we can’t all be rich like the billionaires the republicans give tax breaks to.

DeVos did all she could to ruin the school system.

Republicans deserve credit for their destruction of the USA.

The rate at which teachers are early retiring and quitting during Covid (because they don’t think they should be treated as expendable and disposable resources), public schools in Michigan may have big problems in the Fall staffing classes.

Since when do snooty expensive private schools welcome students who have no money? Especially students of color?

In my spot in Michigan the public school my grandson goes to has been open for two weeks. (True it’s part time but still it’s open.)

Payne noticed there’s an income gap?

And — here’s the shock!!! — implies that it’s not a good thing?

    .

Growing wealth inequality is still peachy though, right Henry?

Many staff are still nervous about going into schools, especially if they have family members at risk of a severe reaction if they contract COVID-19. In a release on Sunday, the union said the school district is still denying these accommodations.

Union leaders note that only a small percentage of parents are opting to send their children into schools so many staff are not needed. Just 19% of preschool school and special education students opted to return for the first week of in-person school.

Now, let’s talk about how the party of Trump blocked science to the extent that the death toll is now, how many, Henry? And one more question, how often do YOU go out and put yourself in the path of danger?

The Republican led Texas legislature has been steadily decreasing the education budget for about the last 20 years. School districts have been struggling to simply operate day to day. Where does Mr. Payne suggest they get the extra thousands of dollars for COVID protocols? Meanwhile, private schools have the option to raise tuition if they feel the need to meet any unexpected expenses such as the COVID protocols. Granted, they may lose a few students whose parents were only marginally able to afford the school before the increase but many of them have waiting lists so they will get by just fine.

Thank you, Liberals! More people will be looking toward private education now. At least they get a good education AND CAN MEET IN PERSON!!!!

My wife teaches in a Catholic school, they are open with mandatory masks and shields on the desks. And trust me they are a nonprofit.

Schools all over the country are open with virtually no problems. Having kids out of school at this point is ludicrous.
