This time I’ve got to get a “THANK YOU” card to send to The White House. Never in my life have I ever done that, but there’s a first time for everything.
there are so many evangelicals that feel democracy is evil and must be eliminated and feel America must be a white KKKristian theocracy,
there are so many undereducated that want a society where gainful employment doesn’t depend on what you know or how hard you work but your race/religion,
there are so many that feel that America belongs (not to indigenous or non-European immigrants, but) exclusively to those of western European descent,
there are so many that feel globalization has singled out America as the fall guystealing our jobs and ideas,
there are so many that feel even capitalist-democratic socialism [except for police and fire departments, social security, medicare, etc] is evil and only a strong authoritarian leadership is good,
there are so many complacent Democrats that are doing nothing to change those misconceptions but instead are celebrating a perhaps temporary victory.
The swamp is half-full now no matter how you perceive it. It would be nice to have a Congress of Americans rather than continual partisan dysfunction by “I’m right you’re wrong!” pols. Successful organizations accomplish meaningful things every day by deliberating, cooperating, compromising, and arriving at a consensus.
Term limits are the idea of people too stupid or lazy to figure out who is worth keeping and who really should never have been elected in the first place. All politicians basically work for their own reelection. They may sincerely believe that their being in a position of power helps people they care about, or they may be simply interested in keeping a paying job. The result is the same. The voters need to be informed in order to separate the ones who are interested in helping the middle class from the corporate stooges who can then go get a job with their contributors. If you really want to know who a candidate will be working for, look at a site called “Open Secrets”. There are others, but this is a good one. It will tell you who is financing their campaign. We all have to do the bidding of who ever is supplying the money to pay our bills. So do politicians. If most of their money is coming from individuals, unions, or other organizations representing the Middle Class, that is who they are going to work for. If most of their money is from banks, etc, they are going to work for the 1%. They don’t really have any choice if they want to win the next election. To vote their conscience against the 1% would be political suicide.
Nations around the world are watching the craziness which is manifested in U.S. society and government and will be cautious in future dealings with the U.S. unless it can be completely rooted out. They don’t trust another outbreak of Trumplicanism.
@Not the Smartest Man On The Planet……I, for one, am sleeping soooooo much better since January 20. It is wonderful to be more relaxed. Now if we could just rid ourselves of idiots like Marjorie Taylor Greene and numerous other right-wing zealots; maybe we could make some real progress!
Interesting News: SAG-AFTRA has BANNED Donald J. Trump from EVER applying for readmission. So who’s going to put him on TV, Movies, etc, without membership? I think the correct answer is NOBODY. . . . except a foreign country.

Actually, I’m feeling anxious knowing that:
there are so many evangelicals that feel democracy is evil and must be eliminated and feel America must be a white KKKristian theocracy,
there are so many undereducated that want a society where gainful employment doesn’t depend on what you know or how hard you work but your race/religion,

Finally, after four horrific years, the words “good” and “government” can be put in the same sentence.

Now to rid congress of the extremists who cause trouble, waste taxpayers money with conspiracy theories, and hold up the process of governing!

Welcome back for now. They know 70+ million of us still voted for Trumpov. They’ll never trust us like they used to.

Please keep your partying limited to small groups, socially distanced and masked – or virtual – as we are not out of the woods yet.
Although now that we have competent leadership in the White House again, there is hope that we may one day be able to “party like it’s 1999” again!
